Venus De Milo (6/1) looks a great e/w bet to nothing in the same race.
Wiltshire Boulevard (10/1) is worth a punt in the National Stakes too.
The Real Article (6/1) looks potentially well treated by the handicapper down in Listowel.

I nailed my colours to the mast a long time ago and it will be most disappointing if Treve is beaten today. Only surprise is that she isn't odds on. She comfortably holds Venus de Milo through Chicquita though she has probably improven, but Treve has only had three starts and should improve too. Step up in trip should be fine, by Motivator though her dam was a sprinter but her half brother by Hernando won over 11 furlongs on heavy ground and she wasn't stopping the day she won at Chantilly.

Bit concerning she hasn't been seen since but this is the most excited I've been about a filly since Zarkava and I'll be really disappointed if she doesn't run well today. Venus de Milo should give her running and Silasol should be comfortably held on the Diane run, don't think Wild Coco is good enough. All the money is for Tasaday but still has a fair bit to find on the Diane run but probably improved. Of the others would love to see Le Pomme D'amour run well here after winning that Deauville gr.2 for the second year in a row.

What a card, that is a proper trial in the Prix Niel too. Derby winner, runaway Grand prix de Paris winner, at a big price Vancouverite is really improving at a rate of knots too

A fabulous card, can it be seen anywhere online?

    It most certainly can

A grade 2 and 2 grade 1's at Woodbine tonight too. Bit of a disappointing turnout for them but Fahy sends a filly over and David Simcock has Trade Storm. Wise Dan running too

Ahzeemah's form looks just about the best on offer in today's Irish Ledger. Drop back in trip is fine, handles any type of surface and form took boost with Times Up winning during the week. Red Cadeaux has been plying his trade in Grp 1's all over the world but he doesn't get his head in front that often. Royal Diamond is dangerous and looks to have been his target all year after his win last year, but I'll stick with De Sousa's sole mount today.

Ballybacka Queen ew in the 2.15 @ 22/1 to steal a bit of place money.

Red Cadeaux goes unpenalized today though which is a big plus, was giving six pounds to that horse who beat him at Newbury who went on to be beaten a head by a good stablemate last week at Kempton, pair clear

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,451 ✭✭✭Overthelast

I was initially leaning towards Red Cadeaux but 2 wins from 18 (albeit racing in top races) is a little off putting.

Sorry :o. I should have been clearer, I meant the racing itself.

Listening to it online now with Williamhill radio, so I'm sorted..

Ruler of the World had a good arc prep just there

Thought it was Moore's fault the horse was beat

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,451 ✭✭✭Overthelast

Ran into a wall of horses, delayed run, once he got a break he quickened well. Was very unlucky.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Anyone knows the rail is a very dangerous place to be at Longchamp. Would have won if he hadn't have been trapped in there, poor ride to me

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

I was looking at it live on ATR and the camera angle was poor, really thought ROTW had gotten up.

What a gamble here on Circling

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Gutted for Mick Hussey, thought he might steal it even deep inside the final furlong

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,451 ✭✭✭Overthelast

Longchamp is the home of bad luck stories. Another stride and he would have won.

Nice shout, makes Tarfasha look very nice

Someone somewhere is feeling very down. The horse who was third at the Curragh in the opening maiden was 160 to be placed on bf

Treve must now be clear fav for arc

Frankie tried his best to get her beat. Some filly though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

She is seriously seriously top class. 6/4 should have been my biggest ever bet but bottled it

Looks a machine. The Arc is shaping up to be an absolute cracker, hopefully Orfevre can make light of the less than ideal prep he's had this season in the next

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Still think Orferve will take all the beating though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

Had a Johnson/Fanning double in the first 2 at Ffos Las. Got the (what I thought) was hard part done by Hartnett winning, only for Life and Times to bomb (went off 4/9 Fav or something). Disaster!

A positive ride by Ryan Moore on Ruler of the World. Nice to see the horse back form that break, first time on soft too. Get him back for a race in October, the Arc perhaps? What has he to prove in Ireland / England?

More, in hope than belief / certainty , but going for Royal Diamond in the St Leger. pretty much solely on Johnny Murtagh's knowledge and success on the Curragh and the bottom stalls. I know there were tactics last time (and no bloody pace maker from O'Brien) but, an each way bet might be worth a go.

    me too

joint fav with treve now at 4s

Can't be having Red Cadeaux as favourite at 7 years old to win the Irish Leger, having a bet on Ernest Hemingway because he's the one most likely to be suited by the distance.

A lot of people giving out about the ride on Olympic Glory, anyone see it I missed it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,451 ✭✭✭Overthelast

Held up out the back, dead last. Past the whole field bar one but the bird had flown. Maxios is not a bad horse but Dettori left Olympic Glory with too much to do IMO.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,451 ✭✭✭Overthelast

Backed letter of credit lto. He better not win today....

Theos Well made an impressive debut at Killarney last year and is back in Kerry again for his 2nd racecourse run. Winters horses in great form and his sole runner at the track. His debut behind Union Dues read well though those behind havnt done a huge amount for that form. It's sometimes folly to back against Mullins in bumpers but I'll take a chance with Theos Well.

Dettori is shockingly bad now, sad to see how much he has declined. Madness that he got that big job.

Olympic Glory couldn't lay up with them, hardly Dettori's fault. He gave Treve a very good confident ride.

He was confident because she is the best in the world. Doesn't mean it was a good ride

    agreed,

dettori did nothing wrong and the horse didn't quicken like
last time when asked for an effort
would have needed the same burst of speed to catch todays winner
best horse won on the day

Some folks raving about treve on other threads also that she's the
best since zarkava and the likes
I'm not convinced myself just yet and would take oufevre and novellist
    ahead of her

bookies really undecided also with 4s freely available on orfevre yet
as low as 5/2+11/4 and treve being available at 5s yet as low as
7/2 with some so it seems a lot more than me are undecided

The arc should be some race in fairness

Again it wasn't just that ride, in general Dettori is not a good jockey anymore. He has declined badly, thats my opinion since he has came back.

What has she to do to convince you? Hacked up in the Diane in a really good time bearing a horse who won the Irish Oaks next time out and the field strung out, Tasaday well beaten won a gr.2 and 3 next two starts, third had won the gr.1 Alaray and a gr.1 at two.

Is Orfevres second to Solemia with Masterstroke in third (tailed off at Kempton last week) better? Unless you know the Japanese form?

no but orfevres run in last years arc makes it the one to beat for me given the race was all but in the bag and novellists run in the kg looked good also

just my opinion which might be miles out
I just wasnt as impressed with treve today as other runs but
im sure they have left plenty to work on there also

You will be no doubt happy to see 5/1 freely available then

the 6/4 available on treve was a gift in fairness and the 10/11 on orfevre
    looked pretty good also

Treve & Novelist both broke track records this yr.

Treve gets the filly & age allowance & proved today she's in super form a month before the Arc.

Novelist's last run in Baden Baden was workmanlike but he was let down a little by the trainer with a view to Oct.

Visually, Treve's turn of foot has been the most impressive for me this season. She has an explosive turn of foot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

Watched the kg, prix diane and last years arc just there

    Still undecided

treve looked special winning the diane in fairness, not so much today

novellist won a bad kg but did it well

orfevre travelled like the winner only to get mugged close home
    in the arc

all three will be primed for oct

cant rule out some of the others either I suppose
