It's pricey, and the membership joining fee is a joke. That said, if you were to use the amenities and the classes etc, it could be more then worth the cost.

I personally joined because it has a gym, something the ben dunne gym in the area cannot boast, and it has free pilates etc. That and it opens at 6, which again the ben dunne couldn't.

If its just free weights, whilst is has loads of free weight equipment etc, I do not know if you couldn't find another gym nearby that could meet your needs at a better price.

As for the people? More or less the same as everywhere else you go. Less kids then other gyms i've been in. Might be due to the high price tab. I've also never been stuck waiting for a machine or weights I wanted etc. That said, I tend to only go either early morn or late at night.

What exactly are your needs? Specifically like?

Clontarf branch is a great gym imo. Not as fond of all the different nooks and crannies in Leopardstown, but it still has everything you could want. I find Sandymount to be too small.

I go in the early mornings and the people there at that time are pretty focused and know what they are at, so there is no messing around.

This morning I saw a guy being asked to vacate the squat rack because he was doing 25k shoulder presses, and a 200k front squatter wanted to use the rack, which was nice.

Yeah that never happened. There are only 2 guys in Clontarf (myself included) that can front squat that much. We're both nice guys and would wait till he finished

The joining free is €500. But, there is always a deal that will reduce it down to approx €50-€100. Then its €75 a month thereafter.

Eh, yes it did... Guy who did it seemed like a nice enough guy and wasn't a dick about it at all. He seemed to have asked politely, and he helped your man move his stuff over to one of the cages.

Anyway, the point behind it was that it's a gym that caters to all types, including heavy lifters.

I'm in Clontarf and find it great. I rarely have to queue for a machine and most people there seem pretty focused and have a definite aim and plan when they are in there.

It's pricey enough but I have been in other gyms for half the price that were useless, so I am happy to spend on it.

The joining fee is never 500euro. They always have some sort of 'promotion' on that will bring that fee down to 75e. Never pay more than that.
