    Currently on fo sho tonight:

    Lucinda Creighton.

Sad to hear Majella is fighting Cancer. Fair play to her for using her profile to try to raise a few quid for the Irish Cancer Society.

To support the Irish Cancer Society text ‘Pink’ to 50300 to donate €4

    Every donation helps

    http://www.irishmirror.ie/showbiz/irish-showbiz/majella-odonnell-shave-head-live-2264623
Majella O’Donnell will shave her head live on the Late Late Show – a day after starting chemotherapy.

Singer Daniel O’Donnell’s wife wants to publicly lose her locks with Ryan Tubridy in a bid to raise money for cancer research and “take control of the hair loss”.

The 52-year-old will be supported by her mum when she goes for her first chemo session tomorrow while Daniel is thousands of miles away on tour in America.

And speaking for the first time since the diagnosis, Majella said the TV shaving was extremely important to her.

She explained: “I want to do this because I feel strongly that I am just one of thousands of people with this illness.

“I want to take control of the hair loss associated with my chemotherapy by deciding when and where to shave my head.

“Having spoken to Daniel, we agreed that we would like to use this as an opportunity to raise awareness and funds.

“Our aim is to raise as much money as we can. I would love it if anyone who would like to contribute to this most worthwhile cause could start donating today.”

Two people on this thread, who shall remain nameless...

The real purpose of their posts is to make me look like I've put as much research in to the original post as Ryan Tubridy normally puts in to the show... I'm looking forward to this unlikely, but intriguing, musical collaboration. Jools Holland has nothing on the LLS's new musical direction.

Maybe they could draft in John Joe to play some clock based accompaniment - hang on, I've not read this properly, have I? :o

Anyone know which one John Joe is? Was he the young cultchie of the year or the lad who was into watches?

Mario and Lucinda - no thanks - but good on Majella, its a great gesture to do especially as she is dealing with her own health issues at the moment

Another act who is making a appearance tonight are Youtube sensation Seo Linn/Colaiste Lurgan.

I haven't a clue who they are but I'd say they are young people from the Gaeltacht.

Mario Rosenstock's interview should be the usual interview he does with Tubs, where Tubs asks question that will include characters that Mario does

    "So Mario Trap is gone"

Then Mario does his Trap impersonation

"Will Roy Keane get the job Mario?"

    Cue A Roy impersonation..

    Also tonight - Pokey LaFarge.

Yes, it's Pokey LaFarge. It sounds like a Pornstar name, but it belongs to an American folk roots singer (he sings the kind of music Pat Kenny used to drool over on his old Radio 1 show, before he mysteriously vanished from the airwaves recently).

Mario should just stand behind a keyboard left of center, making outrageous statements and hillarious tongue in cheek comments and quips during the show. ALA Jay Leno SHow

Daniel O'Donnell is away touring while his missus starts Chemotherapy?Classy guy!

That'll do little to quell any "marriage of convenience" rumours.

That's hardly fair  I'm sure if Majella wanted him to cancel the tour he would have, but they have probably taken a joint decision that it's better to go ahead with the tour.

Unfortunately, there are lots of people undergoing cancer treatment, do you expect their spouses and partners to leave work too? I think you're being very unfair.

Late Late has missed a trick in my opinion, They should have a Marty Morrissey dance off between Mario Rosenstocks MM and Oliver Callans MM.....Winner gets 10 minute interview with Tubs Loser gets 30 minute interview with Tubs.

Good post above and it really highlights how predictable the LLS has become, the accuracy of some of the posters here regarding what will come up on the LLS is uncanny. Some people nearly predict conversation sequences. If the above exchange takes place tonight I will fall off the couch laughing:D

There are lots of people undergoing cancer treatment, and many of them are not spouses of multi-millionaires who at this point have their money made years ago. Don't turn my point into a generalisation, I am referring specifically about Daniel O'Donnell.
There are also many spouses of chemo patients who cannot give up work, though I suspect most would at least take a day off for the START of the chemo, or at the very least limit travel to foreign countries.
And 'Joint Decision' is irrlelevant, he should want to be there.

In an industry where gigs are cancelled within hours of performances, no excuse washes with me, so lets just agree to disagree.

And the other 75% is made up of airhead interviews for the most part! Where is the entertainment?

It has become so poor some weeks that the misery section, which is not meant to be entertainment, is the most interesting part ironically. Majellla O'Donnell is about the only guest here tonight who will be interesting.
i am sick to my back teeth of Mario whatshisbloodystock

Yes, I agree. Mario Rosenstock and all these imitators of politicians, sportspeople, celebs, etc. are done to death at this stage. The Mario Rosenstock show just very coincidentally is starting on RTE for its second season soon. It is like that 1999-2001 series Bull Island redone really. This sort of comedy has been done to death in Ireland and is not funny anymore.

You really don't get Daniel O'Donnell do you? He is a different breed of entertainer, he is an old fashioned performer 'the show must go on' type who wouldn't dream of disappointing his fans if he could possibly avoid it.

What Daniel and Majella do is their business but if I was Majella I would be saying - Daniel, get out there, do your tour, entertain your fans and if I need you to come home, I'll contact you.

I think if Daniel cancelled his tour it would heap more pressure on Majella, people might be saying that her prognosis isn't good etc. Daniel (and in more recent times Majella) have been very supportive of the fans. Daniel makes a point of staying back after every show for a couple hours to meet to them and he knows many of them by name. I believe that Majella and Daniel are now receiving support, mainly prayers and good wishes in return and I feel ultimately this tour will help both of them.

I'm no fan of Daniel's music but I've met the guy and I've heard first hand accounts of what he has done for fans, I feel you're so wrong about him but you're entitled to your opinion. I've no wish to discuss this anymore, other than to wish Majella well.

The Independent plastering Google News with news that Majella O'Donnell will be shaving her head on the late late show.. I mean, it's barely news, why are they making such a massive deal about it?

It's been confined to the Entertainment section now, but they pushed it purposely when they wanted to, just before the LLS started.
Is that a case of "I'll scratch your back.."?

Got a bottle of 13% tonight.. I actually had a bottle of nicer wine that was only 11.5% and said to myself "No, that's just not gonna cut it if the last Late Late is anything to go by"....

disclaimer: I also bought a bottle of Vodka

It is getting so much coverage as it is part of a fundraising campaign by the Irish Cancer Society. You might remember that Daffodil Day this year was a complete wash out so the society needs to raise more funds.
