Rathfarnham village has been 1 way for years without any issue.

Ballyshannon in Donegal changed to 1 way in the 80’s without any hassle.

there’s little reason why villages/ towns shouldn’t have 1 way traffic especially when there’s a viable bypass

It most certainly happened and no we dont all have apps, isnt that one of the objections to living streets, how its making life for older people more difficult, check your app says he snd anyway sure the experience related didnt happen at all.

Anyway the people in the shops had apps and they couldnt help me either.

And the point is the L25 bus stop is too far from the shopping centre if you want to return to Stillorgan etc, it should travel via the Main Street, in my opinion anyway, is your opinion more important than mine because you have phone apps.

And the relevance to Dunlaoghaire is we are going to have the same issue when buses cant go down Georges street.

And nothing to be gained by doing this either except make life harder for bus users who need to have transport near the shops.

And please dont post pictures of three wheel adult trikes, not interested, thanks.

No, simple solution is to drive, spend thirty euros in Tesco snd get three hours free parking.

I didnt buy a single thing in Dundrum, went to return stuff, decided not to as I knew going into the centre that i didnt know where to catch the bus back. This was after I asked half of Dundrum and no one could tell me.

Does Rathfarnham and Ballyshannon have large shopping centres and Municipal offices.

Does it have piers that hundreds of people drive to every day of the year.

Do you go through Ballyshannon to get to places like Dalkey.

what is the population in Ballyshannon.

I have never bern to either Rathfarnham village or Ballyshannon so cant comment.

Im driving to Dalkey today and may go via Tivoli Road, will come back via Lower Georges Street, the same way I always do.

The funny thing is I think the plans for Dundrum are nonsense and I have a relative whos business will be affected however your complaint is absolute nonsense and your story in my opinion is absolutely made up. The sentence where you now add you asked them to check their apps seals the deal on this being a work of fiction tbh.

It's funny how 'we don't all have apps' but you've no bother managing to post on Boards! Let's be honest here, you didn't bother your arse checking out details of the new bus route, and now it is EVERYBODY ELSE's fault that you had to 'traipse around'. All the route information is freely available on several sites, or you could just have asked the bus driver when you were getting off. But it's all someone else's fault, apparently.

Please stop lying about these bus stops being 'too far from the centre'. I showed you yesterday that the L25 bus stops directly outside the shopping centre, just a few metres from the pedestrian exit from the 2M car park. And there's other stops further down the bypass, if you want to get out that way.

'Main St' is just a name. The bus goes where suits most people. Do you research beforehand next time.

If you want to add a leg to your journey, you can go northbound before you go southbound. Or you could take one of the pedestrian exits onto the bypass, and pick up your southbound bus there, to save yourself some traipsing time, but it's your choice really.

It's bizarre how you came from DTC to get your bus, and you expect bus routes to be moved to Main St, because you didn't know about the route running along the bypass, adjacent to DTC.

I dont have a transport app, hardly ever use public transport and that trekking through a carpark to get to a bus made me remember why a car is the better option.

why should i need an app, if i get off s bus outside a shopping centre there should be a bus on the opposite side of the road to take me back, its called Busconnects so it should connect one to that big building full of potential passengers and no they shouldnt have to consult any app to find a bus stop, it should be across the road from where they alighted and not on a by pass.

But no some pen pusher decided to make the main street one way, time to reverse this decision and hopefully not make the same mistake in dunlaoghaire.

I didnt ask anyone to check apps, sweet divine jesus, I hope you aren't a barrister.

I said I went into three shops and kn one of the shops two staff checked an app on their phone, neither could help me out.

I walked down the strert before i went into the centre hoping i would know where to find the bus stop to go back.

After five minutes I had seen everything and visited i think three charity shops, there were so many boarded up buildings, not really very clear what the purpose of making the street one way is, are there a lot of junkets to Barcelona taking place and people thinking we will be basking in the sun on Dundrums main street.

Running red lights is a major issue now. I see it often, even at pedestrian crossings.

So the more fines and cameras they get out there, the better!

You could have checked the App first, to see where the bus stops are, maybe? But now you know.

If going to Dundrum Town Centre on the L25, when you come from Stillorgan, get off at the stop near the new apartments. Its 1 min walk into the centre and you come out at Starbucks.

When going back to Stilorgan, if you go down the walkway behind Siam Thai, it brings you directly to the bus stop. 2 min walk from Siam Thai in the main square.

Walking through the car park isnt silly at all, if you are at the Dunnes end of the centre. As its the quickest route to any bus stop that will take you back to Stillorgan.

If you are at Dunnes, you are closer to that stop on the bypass than you are to main street.

Why should there always be stop across the road just because you say so? The existence of bus stops on one way streets has been around for some time, the one way section of Nassau St has 4 bus stops that serve at least 12 different routes for at least the last 20 years and everyone seems to get on fine with it.

Dundrum main street is much more pleasant the odd time i have been there since it was made one way.

Call me crazy but I like the fact that there arent constant traffic fumes in your nostrils from 2 lanes of cars.

The village is still being used as a rat-run ... 70% of cars are not stopping.

The developer owns one side of the street..empty shop.. any tenants are on short leases, landlord will not spend a penny on maintenance to the buildings.

Hate to reach back into the annals of time, but as far as I can work out the light sequence at the top of Newtown Park (Whites Cross at the N11) have been modified to extend the sequence when traversing to Leopardstown Rd. I cant say whether the same apples to the junction in the opposite direction.

No, streets that lead to commercial centres for hundreds of years should not be made one way and buses bringing hundreds of people to a shopping centre should have a bus stop located nearby.

Its not just about me, its about elderly people, the disabled, those pushing buggies, pregnant women, all need banks, churches, shops, post offices to be accessible and if you make streets one way then people will just drive in a circle until they are close to whatever took them to Dundrum or wherever in the first place. Thereby doubling omissions!!!!

Also Dundrum isnt thriving, very few would travel there except to go to the shopping centre, at least if you had the bus stop in the main street people might spend money in the shops nearby.

Whats the point in driving business away by taking parking etc, if there is nothing in the village sure you might as well walk in a park.

Drove thru Georges Street at 6pm yesterday, handful of people around, that stupid yellow structure, how much did it cost.

Maybe we could use it as a climbing frame to attract tourists from the cruise ships to Georges Street, cant see many of them slogging up Marine Road to go to Tesco.

There ARE several bus stops located nearby to the shopping centre, directly outside in, in fact.

There IS a bus stop on the Main St, the L25 terminus is on the Main St.

There is MORE parking on the Main St now than there was with the two way traffic, two more spaces to be precise.

Your claims don't stand up.

The L25 does not travel through the village on its return journey, that is the only issue for me, I am not interested in any other buses as the only reason I go to Dundrum is to spend time in the shopping centre.

The one way system iis just pointless, traffic jammed the entire time I was there, its freezing cold and dark from Sept to April so who is going to use street furniture.its clogging up the pavements in the six week summer in Blackrock too as people are gathering around drinking.

Also letting their dogs wander on long leads meaning Im supposed to step over them, tired of it all.

And Im ablebodied, if I was in one of those ride on things the older people are using to get around, cant imagine how difficult that is.

Blackrock just feels congested and unpleasant now, so much space taken for street furniture that its too wet and cold to use, traffic non stop as people circling to get into the village, kerbs everywhere that you have to climb over to get from one side of the street to the other, cars parked in the centre of the road, its just a mess.

Is there any other local authority area in the country that is doing this.

I go to Gorey a lot, very busy traffic wise but the town is thriving, xmas lights were fab, can we send a contingent from DLR to talk to the Gorey people, a junket there would be better than one to Barcelona.
