Season 5, Episode 14 : Ozymandias

Starting this thread quite early with a spoiler of sorts. (Not really a massive one though and not even sure if it even counts as a spoiler)
Krysten Ritter is credited as appearing in 'Ozymandias', according to IMDb. Interesting, it'll probably be a flashback but I wonder will Jane's death be mentioned? I've said all along as her death won't come up again, but who knows?

Jesus, that is interesting. Kind of wish I hadn't read it now :O

Anyways, not exactly bad news either: WANT.

given that krazy-8, tuco, gale & mike are also listed it would appear to be some sort of flashback alright

i said this in a the thread about one year ahead
the real montage/catch up to the flashforwards start from here
ep14 Ozymandias - given the ep. title & the poem, this'll be the end of it for walt, for whatever reason.
this ep. is written by the woman who wrote Gliding Over All so you could say she has form for a montage.
also a lot of dead characters(mike, gale, tuco, jane, krazy-8) are cast in this p. so maybe it'll be a whole flashback montage from walts memory
there's other parts of that post too about catching up to the diner/the last episodes http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=86328956&postcount=20

    Ozymandias

I met a traveler from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
    The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Hmmm, a lot to be taken from that poem really.

    There is also another one
IN Egypt's sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desert knows:—
"I am great OZYMANDIAS," saith the stone,
"The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
"The wonders of my hand."— The City's gone,—
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.

We wonder,—and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess
          What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.

That poem was written at the same time as PBSs poem, and both poets knew about the other. The second one there was originally also called Ozymandias.

    *******************************************

I wonder does it refer to Walt at all.

Could be Hank and the DEA.

    Could be the Nazis.

It's not Walt. It's Heisenberg. The opening scene of start of this series was the poem.

It would be funny (as an idea) if it was actually a clip show. Cold opening, Walt's taking cover on the back seat as a loud hail of gunfire goes over his head. Camera catches his eye, "OH! HI THERE! Y'KNOW, WE'VE SURE HAD A LOT OF GREAT TIMES ON BREAKING BAD!!! *Bit of Hank's brain lands on Walt's cheek* HERE'S A LOOK BACK AT SOME OF OUR FAVORITE SCENES!!!!!

    If it is a
    flashback
episode, I wonder is it possible that we don't see the outcome of the gun battle until the episode after?!

No. Ozymandias is the the third last - two more after it.

Just to be sure, I like to watch Talking Bad and check with Vince G how many episodes are left. This week he says,

    Fair enough, Vin.

A great opportunity to use the word 'antepenultimate'.

Spoilering one word does not make it difficult to work out what is behind it! Especially with the sentence you wrote after it! :P

Quick quiz, then. Which Sesame Street character will appear in next week's opening scene and say: "One dead DEA agent...wuh huh huh ha...two dead DEA agents...wuh huh huh ha..."?

Obviously it's the Sesame Street character, "Nobody", and I'd say he did it too. He talks with the eerie calm of a stone cold serial killer...

The character I was thinking of wore a cape... (it's The Count). My favourite Sesame Street character? Guy Smiley.

Obviously it is the Count but I say that he'd be uncomfortable with inspecting the aftermath of a violent shootout! :pac: I don't think 'Nobody' would harbor the same qualms somehow....

"Nobody" must have arrived after my time...don't remember him at all.

I'm in the US at the moment and AMC showed an ad for the next episode with a big spoiler. Shocked they showed it to be honest.

36 hours. I've a feeling I'm going to be watching this entire episode on the toilet.

Being in US he can watch AMC whereas we cant?

Wouldn't surprise me either given the ridiculously stupid ads shown in the cinema.

That's the problem alright. I listen to the radio in work for 8 hours and some of the presenters are always talking about Bad.

Guess I'll have to listen Radio na Gaeltachta for the next while.

Will have to avoid Twitter too!

Not at all; if it was a spoiler ad, it would be on Youtube ten minutes after it aired.

I don't think he's saying it'd spoil the next episode, but a spoiler for anyone that isn't up to date and just happens to be watching AMC over there - as I said, similar to the advert in the cinema.

Maybe not that difficult but I suppose it depends. If you hang around with people who are also BB fans or you look at these boards often or whatever then yeah, you might be looking sequestering yourself. At that point it would be less pain to just watch the episodes as they come, I'd say, but I'm sure The Pontiac knows what he/she is doing. Wouldn't be into it myself, though!

Apparently the episode is meant to go live on UK Netflix just after it airs in US... So should it be live by 11pm tonight or what?? My nerves are shot waiting on the New ep!
