Because that's not the same map. Looks photoshopped and too different from the others. Likely a fake or a guess from a while back

Everything in the blue map besides the city of Los Santos was merely drawn by a fan, the part of the city came from the Special/Collectors edition pre order advertising that Rockstar released.

Still hoping for a hidden island that you can buy! ;)

    Unlikely at this stage though,

I think I read where you can play a full round of golf. The golf course is tiny compared to the rest of the map ! Puts it into context I think

But there are loads of little islands scattered around the coast. You may have something to do with them.

It's 9 hole course by the looks of it of, a full length 9 hole golf course in the sense it's actual golf and not pitch and putt.

    Flight School :(

Better not be mandatory for the story.

I'm hoping all that stuff isnt marked on the in game map. I liked it in IV when Burger Shot etc only showed up once you found it yourself.

Flight school will be a must I would say but hey I'm not complaining, can't wait to zoom around that map in a Cessna and take in the scenery :D

Count it for 100% for sure, but it is not at all needed for any story.

Well that settles that then. All these class map nay-sayers should have their pre-orders cancelled.

Is it as big as Just Cause 2?

JC 2 was 400 sq. miles (approx. 1,000 sq. km), a few are saying GTA V is 50 sq. miles, which sounds small to me. I know "size isn't everything", but I love massive game worlds where you can try a different route and just find a new valley/city/lake etc.. you never knew about.

GTA V is probably far, far more 'dense' though, with a lot more to do.

I'll admit that i thought the city was small first, i saw the roads and thought they were just normal roads, the zooming in with real pictures of the map opened my eyes though.

    This map is insanely big

Just Cause is a unique beast. Far larger than anything else, beautiful world but not the level of detail as you'd see in GTA. For all its faults, GTA IV had an amazingly detailed city.

Yeah that video does do a decent job of making you realise that the city may be a bit bigger than we're (or at least, than I'm) thinking.

Just Cause Pfft. Whipper snappers don't remember Daggerfall and its 500,000 square kilometress map size.

Kerbal Space Program is much bigger. And Jeb would kick Trevor's ass.

It's 50 sq miles from what I've gathered so far. So it's not massive, A bit of hype I suppose with fans maybe wanting to believe in it, a let down for some who've played it and posted online.

Personally I look forward to the detail Rockstar will bring to the map. Like others have mentioned Just Cause 2's layout was spectacular in it's beauty and size (400 sqm) but it was limited in many other respects. I'd prefer detail to size, I'm sure nobody here is going to say it's too small once they get their hands on it on Tuesday.

GTA 4 was 6sq miles was it not??

    GTA 5 is 50 miles.

I'm no mathematician but that seems a hell of a lot bigger to me considering the detail that's included.

I just did a drive around the perimeter of the map in a fast car (Obey 9F, like an Audi R8).
It only took me about 15 minutes (or less) which was surprisingly short to be honest but it doesn't really bother me too much. The car was really nice to drive and it's pretty easy to get places without crashing all the time (or at all really)

That's pretty much exactly what I expected, not much longer than it took to drive around San Andreas. There was a lot of noise about the size of San Andreas's map that turned out to be mostly hype. I didn't expect anything different here.

I'd imagine where GTA V will expand is the density of the map as it were (interiors, underwater etc), as opposed to purely the land area.
