How are people feeling after the milkrounds process?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 163 ✭✭Percyxoxo

Drained!! There seems to be a quick turnaround this year with most of the larger firms scheduling them at the end of the month! what did you think about the application forms? some were sooo exam results driven!

Hi, I'm not sure if this thread is still being used.

AFAIK Arthur Cox are the only top 5 firm to get back to people.

Has anyone applied to Eversheds? Did the application process just close much earlier than the usual end of October date, or did they accept applications this year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 164 ✭✭Daryl Strawberry

I've only heard from Arthur Cox, pretty sure they should all start replying soon enough though, anyone know how many get called to first round interviews at Arthur Cox, must be up around 100

Apparently LK Shields were ringing around on Friday and RDJ in Cork have sent out letters asking people to come and interview.

Thanks, i didn't apply to LK Shields since they require FE1s to be completed. Should be soon enough for the rest i think

I applied to RDJ but used my Dublin address and haven't been there since Wednesday to check the post. Have you any idea when the interviews are taking place?

It's probably more then 100 they do a few interviews a day and there is 10 in each of the group interviews.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 164 ✭✭Daryl Strawberry

Nah I did one last year and there was 6 in each, I reckon 4x6 per day times the 4 days, probably 90-100

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 RizzleKick

Yours must have been smaller because there was 10 in mine last year. Maybe it just depends how many people go for the times available i would assume it's varied.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3 Law_student 1234

    I think it's the 18th, 19th and 20th. Best of luck

Had the group interview with AC this morning, was very vague, one question about taxation then two very general ones, 10 per interview as well, they must have invited loads to the first round!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 johnnyc91

Hi Daryl, I hope it went well for you. I have my group interview with AC tomorrow. Were their questions quite specific or do they leave them fairly open? How long was the interview?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 163 ✭✭Percyxoxo

    Hi all,
do you think Cox, LK Shields are only looking at 1.1s?

Don't know about LK Shields but Arthur Cox certainly aren't, my friend interviewed with them this morning and she has a 2.1, albeit a high one. Another girl in my class interviewed with them too but I don't know what grade she has, not a 1.1 anyway.

Just had my AC interview this morning very hard to know how it went. How did everyone else get on? Does anyone have any idea when we find out if we got a 2nd interview? So nerve wracking...

No. I had a 2.1 and I got an interview .. although I think it has to be 2.1 or higher for most of the top firms...thank god it's not a 1.1!!

The business one was pretty specific, but the rest were all very broad. Everyone could essentially talk about what they wanted - they just want to see how you handle yourself and put across a point really, so the topics are pretty light

Looking to see if LK shields or hayes solicitors got back to anyone yet?

Well when I rang up, there was loads of different time slots available every day. All of my friends who have been interviewed so far have seen ten people in their groups. I would say 300 people will have been interviewed this week? Even more perhaps?

Yeah I suppose, I wonder they operate such a policy, surely they could narrow it down a lot further at the application stage and save everyone time

They probably pick all the people they liked on paper and its a fast and easy way to wean out ppl that dont fit with the firm or are not what they seem on paper very quickly, meaning that they only interview the people they think are right and ready for the job...I like it, it means you're not judged just on your written application but personality too...

    Hey Guys,

I've never posted on this before but was constantly checking it last year when I was going through the application process. Just wanted to share some experience that might be of some use to some reading.

I interviewed for AC, McCann, William Fry, Matheson and MHC getting to the final round for all bar cox's and offered jobs with two, I didn't have a 1:1, went to a college outside of Dublin and didn't have any inside connections or anything like that.

The best piece of advice I can offer anyone is to relax at this time I know its agonising waiting to hear from firms whether or not you got called but try and put it out of your head.

If you do get an interview, while this is a useful forum I'd advise people to use it sparingly for preparation for your interview as the type of interview you will have can differ wildly to the interview another user can have. This can be down to a number of factors including who's interviewing you, whats actually on your cv and even the way you carry yourself.

Finally best of luck to everyone and remember its not the be all and end all by any means.

Just wondering whether people have received the letters from rdj? I applied and have not received any. The girl I was speaking to did not know wether they were sent out or not. Also anyone hear from any of the other big 5? This waiting game is driving me mad! Hope everyone's who had interviews so far have went well!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38 Lolers11

I agree, the waiting game is horrible! I've heard nothing. I've only applied for a few firms.

Does anyone know if they're late this year? Or if this is the usual waiting time?

Is it only Arthur Cox that do group interviews, or do many firms do them? They sound tough

Does anyone know anything about the Dillon Eustace interview ie. what they ask and what they're looking for? Thanks!
