Just wondering of anyone knows anyone that has had this done?? An if so how it went?

sorry to hear about your friend. By frozen do you mean a nerve block?

Id assume its freezing all the nerves in the foot to eliminiate the pain...but also all feeling in her foot! By the sound of it she will be able to stand on the foot but that would be it....its kinda hard to get a sense of exactly what the end result would be!

Frozen or fused? Fusing joints is usually last resort stuff. They would then be 'frozen' into position so the joint movement would no longer cause pain.

Not the foot specifically but I have spoken to people online who have had other joints fused. And my father in law has a partially fused ankle.

The arthritis pain will be relieved but it's important for your friend to question the doctor regarding physical limitations afterwards and, most important, chances of causing new problems as a result. If foot range of motion is frozen, will that cause ankle problems or knee problems as those joints may now be used in different ways etc.

You might check healthboards.com, it reaches a wide audience, you might find someone with experience of the procedure there.
