Main Card (BT Sports 1) 1am
    Glover Teixeira vs. Ryan Bader
    Yushin Okami vs. Ronaldo Souza
    Joseph Benavidez vs. Jussier Formiga
    Francisco Trinaldo vs. Piotr Hallmann
    Rafael Natal vs. Tor Troeng
    Marcos Vinicius vs. Ali Bagautinov

Preliminary card (BT Sports 1) 11pm
    Felipe Arantes vs. Edimilson Souza
    Joao Zeferino vs. Elias Silvério
Lucas Martins vs. Ramiro Hernandez Jr.
    Keith Wisniewski vs. Ivan Jorge

    Preliminary card (Facebook/Youtube)
    Yuri Villefort vs. Sean Spencer

Not a huge event and far from a stacked card (which probably explains the lack of interest in here), but here's the full card.

The only fights I'm looking forward to seeing is the main event and also the Benavidez fight.

I used to really like Bader and thought he was really going places within the division but he just doesn't excite me any more. Admittedly, he's only lost to Jones, Machida, and Tito, but I still can't see him making a credible title run. I'd love to see how he'd do at MW, but I dunno if the weight cut would be too much for him. I can see Texeira winning this by KO in the 1st round.

I always enjoy watching Benavidez fight and I'll be watching this with interest, but tbh I can't see this one going any way other than a comfortable win for Benevidez.

The top three fights are very good fights. Okami / Souza is an excellent fight in my opinion.

Should be an excellent fight but for some reason I don't think it'll live up to expectations.
Okami will want to keep it standing, while Jacare will want to take it to the ground and get the sub. Both Judo blackbelts so that could be interesting.
I think it'll either be a decision for Okami, or a quick sub for Jacare if it goes to the ground.

I'd say Teixeira will destroy Bader.

3/1 for bader seems like huge value, bader could well be able to take down and smother him and if not glover is hittable and bader has ko power

Okami's never been submitted so that would be surprising.

Jacare is good but really hasn't a win over any current top ten fighters, Rockhold handled him fairly well on the feet.

Okami has been in with high level grapplers like Jake Shields and never been submitted so I'd be impressed if Jacare can manage it.

    Interesting fight though.

I hear Okami brought in Mousasi as a training partner to work on his up-kicks!

    Not really

I think Bader is underrated too, I'll put a couple euro on him to take Glover out but I'm not holding out much hope :P

Shields grappling isnt even comparable to Jacre's. If it goes to the ground Okami will probably be able to stand up once or twice. But I think Jarcre will only get it to the ground once barring a wild shot that lands.

    Id say okami decision.

I was actually thinking Souza will take it by decision but will be an interesting fight.
Reckon Bader is going to sleep against Teixeira. I know he hasn't been tested against a high level wrestler but still thinks he takes Bader in the 1st

Agree that Jacare is a far more decorated grappler than Shields but it's all we can go on.

Been a fan of Bader since TUF, really want him to do well. He has some KO power and great wrestling but lacks a certain something that really shows when he fights the top guys.

Can't wait for Okami and Souza, has the makings of a great technical match.

If Jacare comes hungry into this fight, he will run through Okami. Ever since the Boetsch fight I just can't rate him that highly.

Main event should be boring, I reckon Glover will take the decision, but I wouldn't mind seeing Bader having a good go.

There is a crazy amount of clinching being done in the fights so far. Poor card so far.

    Dig that chin!

lol like against Machida Bader ran in and left his guard down and got sparked.

    Glover rocks!

He's more dangerous in the flurry after you've hit him like he gets really angry and his technique comes through... can't teach heavy hands like that. His head movement is great too. He's the real deal. Don't think he'll challenge Bones, nobody ever will which is a sad fact.

I'd like to see him against Cain at HW.

That's the only conceivable way Bones might be stopped.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,451 ✭✭✭Wrongway1985

The wayward uppercut thrown by Bader killed him, from the get go even it appeared he was gonna spend a lot in the first and it didn't work out. Glover although briefly was pressured into a dangerous spot was it Jones workin I doubt he woulda got out although I'm sure a different gameplan would be applied should he fight him next.

    • Fight of the Night: Rafael Natal vs. Tor Troeng
    • Knockout of the Night: Glover Teixeira
    • Submission of the Night: Piotr Hallmann
Woulda went with Hallmann v Trinaldo for FOTN myself

well if he just went up right now there's a few that would kill him instantly but yeah if he moved up smart over a long enough period and came in at a fast/powerful 240 lb he'd most likely beat everyone bar Cain and maybe JDS.

He would need to take a 6 month break from 205 to build muscle and move up in stages fighting some lower tier guys as he packs muscle on over a period of a year or so. He'd need another 15/20 lbs lean muscle on his frame to be able to wrestle with the huge lads. He prob walks into the cage at 220/225 ... he'd really need the power that would come with a lean 240 lb. He's totally finished at 205 within the next 18 months and I think he wants to go up definitely as a challenge to himself.

only thing he hasn't got obviously is 1 punch KO power but it may just not be his style yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,830 ✭✭✭Be like Nutella

so many amazingly deadly fights for Glover at 205.
I want all of these fights immediately.

Machida (at 205 deffo a KO)
Mousasi (would be a vicious fight)
    Davis (great grapplers fight)
Gusto (hard to see him win this one but great fight)
Sonnen (if keeps it on the feet.. he wins)
Thiago as well (deffo KO in that)

Didn't see it but was reading the round by round notes and the 3 headline fights look to have really made it interesting and the Hallman fight sounds great too. Looking forward to seeing it later on.

Ah poor Bader, he thought he had it finished at the end and just swinging mad with his guard down. Nice clean combo by Tex. Okami looked completely out of his depth.

Just saw Texeira was named next contender for LHW title shot.

And then Texeira to take it right in his first title defence :p

I think Glover should face Lyoto before getting a title shot and I wouldn't give him a hope a hell there. He's far too slow and Machida isn't going to get tagged by his power punches.

Only way I can see Machida losing is by another bad decision like against Page and Mr Wonderful. (And one judge said Hendo beat him - wtf)

edit: Just noticed Machida is dropping to MW

Tex brings size to the equation, he's a big big dude at 205, powerful, and obviously has stopping power in his hands but he won't get close enough to Bones unless (as we always say with every single Bones fight )he gets right in Bones face and pushes the action and creates his own chance to land a few quality punches to Bones head which is an almost mythical untouchable body part in his fights. Be very interested to see how many effective head strikes he has absorbed in his 32 UFC rounds so far. Realistically the chances of Tex getting close enough to hit Bones are about 5-1 I'd say but it's as good a chance as there is in the entire division assuming Gus gets completely outclassed in every single department, as I fully expect he will, being the Aldi version of Bones that he clearly is.

I'd say the hardest part to training for Bones is finding a sparring partner who is explosive and has good Karate/kicking technique at 6' 4''. You'd probably find yourself sparring with really lanky 185ers to get used to their speed and parrying. That's what I'd do.

Tex is the only hope left at 205 and it's a feint feint hope. His best chance is most likely going to come on the ground if he can a) get it there and b) remotely challenge Bones's wrestling power and top control.

looked into Bones stats on fight metrics .. its utterly ridiculous there is no point in fighting him.

never been taken down as we know
he hits you 3 times more than you hit him on average
never been rocked or dropped ever
one sub attempt ever on him..Vitor's hail mary armbar
nobody has ever had top control
so nobody has ever passed his guard.

His take down defense/sprawl isn't even what keeps it standing .. it's his range control... you don't even get an opportunity to shoot and if you do he's got time to eat a sandwich before you even get to him. You can't reach him with punches and you can't stay out of range of his kicks unless you stay in the dressing room.

There is no strategy to beat Jon Jones. Only luck and savagery from the first bell gives you any sort of chance in hell.

Wish he'd feck off to HW already : )

At least Gus has the length..... sadly not the speed, technique, power or wrestling. I will buy a hat and record myself eating it in full if he causes Bones any problems. If anything Gus is in for some serious beating because with his length Jones is freed from his perfect range based strategy so he'll more than likely just wreck Gus.

And in fairness he was fairly rocked by Vitor's armbar. There's a rumor going around that he actually verbally tapped.
