Stephanie McMahon, Triple H and Vince McMahon are all advertised for tonight so will Daniel Bryan be destroyed again or will Big Show, Miz and Ziggler finally help him

Daniel Bryan has to be the one standing tall tonight. Think it's a bit early for Big Show, Ziggler or Miz to get involved at the moment. However they'll be seen showing their approval to Bryan getting the upper hand and they'll slowly be dragged into the feud.

It is unrealistic to expect Bryan to be standing tall against HHH, Orton and The Shield alone, The lads should help dispose of the Shield and then Bryan kicks some behinds.

Make more sense to do that on the final Raw before NOC.

No, because then how do you build the feuds for The Shield, Big Show and Ziggler? No sense in sticking The Shield against cowards who haven't been willing to throw a word in at the time the match gets made, never mind a slap.

Well that's the whole ironclad contract issue sorted out

Bryan v Big Show should be interesting to see which way they are going to go with this.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,641 ✭✭✭andyman

Hopefully they decide to surround the ring and Bryan and Show jump out and beat them down, akin to the Rock and Jericho in 2000

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,641 ✭✭✭andyman

Oh snap. Cody vs Orton and if Cody loses, he loses his job (or at least that was what was implied)

This is shaping up nicely. I really hope this means Cody is joining the feud and that this isn't a one-off..

Credit to Fandango/Curtis that he hasnt been reduced to jobbing already despite his awful gimmick

Sounded like Y2J at first, and then "You'll be okay".

I thought it was "Y2J" myself, then I heard "Ok" haha, cheers :D

"Hey Big Show looks a little upset should we see if he's alright?"

"Nope let's run away from him as fast as we can instead, that'll cheer him up."

Really? A two minute segment and then cut to yet another ad break?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,853 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

Ah crap, Edge back next week and I wont be able to watch it, bollocks

It was only an ad during the break, just saying he will be back next week for one night only

That would have been a savage win for Cody after that reversal

Makes sense to let him get married and go on his honeymoon, then work him back in for Survivor Series.

Crowd were rooting for him, which is great to see.

    So Cody is sacked?

    Class match either way!

So who will be the person to come out and challenge Vince/HHH/Steph in an executive way? Please god don't be Linda McMahon

I'd love that, purely just to hear the old-school Wrestlemania theme music.

"Bernernerner.. DO DO DO DOOOOOO DO DOOOOOO".

As though employee rights apply to independent contractors. Also, quite depressing how the fiction of RAW relates so entirely to reality.

JBL to King "That's not nice King". I found that way funnier than I should have.

Good to see Sandow has taken over Ziggler's old role, nothing builds up a MITB holder than months of jobbing

Really great opinion there. Care to back it up with reasons?

The outmoded Smackdown! ads they run during RAW are an embarrassment; referencing the continuation of a concluded, 3-month old storyline is certainly not what's best for business.

The ending was necessary for the story they're telling, I'm guessing/hoping, but any TV show that closes on a similar note 3-weeks running is going to get irksome, but hey, the endgame might pop-up fruitful, so not going to condemn it proper just yet.

HHH's shtick is starting to elicit 2003-era reactions out of me, in terms of proper, NWA-style heels that dominate, but I'm fearful of just how many months we're to wait 'til this becomes less of an establishing act, and actually moves into the story proper.

Daniel Bryan really got me as well, with the fire he showed during the opening segment. Perfect mix of a passionate and trollish counterpoint to the dickish suits, and it's something I'm hoping they run with a bit more.

Cody Rhodes and Orton had me, was even sold on the nearfalls, and Cody's 'goodbye/marching orders' promo on the way was intense. Crowd really attached to him too.

Weird face-ish moment with HHH and his backstage chinwag with Heyman. Also, it feels even weirder for the very thing Punk campaigned against 2 years ago to unfurl on the very same show as him, and nary a word from C.M at all, at all. I suppose there's the whole 'he's too busy with Heyman' jazz, but the suspension of disbelief required here is starting to resemble an ironworks.

F**k me, I think about this sh*t too much.

Doesn't seem to be a thing here thank god. Always one of the more sensible places online.

But the sheer amount of people pissed off online about WWE booking three whole weeks of heat is crazy. Not claiming WWE has it totally right in terms of the detail work etc. But I really do wonder if this isn't a consequence of people seeing heels being positioned so poorly from Chris Masters and Carlito to the Spirit Squad to Miz and Truth to Orton and Cena pinning the entire roster on their own.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

I really didn't like parts of the show, particularly Big Show.

I don't mind the heat building thing. I think Orton and HHH are becoming great heels, and when a face beats them, it's going to be huge. It's just that I don't think Bryan will be that face any more.

From the start, the show presupposed everyone thought Show would just murder Bryan, a man who has been World and WWE Champion, and beat Cena clean only three weeks ago. So distraught was Show in knowing how badly he'd beat Bryan, he spent all evening in tears. The idea that it might be an even match never even seemed to cross his mind. This might have been acceptable had Show been on a rampage killing guys for weeks or even the odd show or two. But he's not been, so the fact we were being told this wasn't even a contest 3 hours before it took place shows how much "respect" Bryan's character has right now. Even the end had Show displaying pity on Bryan. Given it was between two faces, could they not have said "Hey, it sucks, but we're wrestlers so we were always going to face off eventually. Let's just have a good match and best man win?" Nah, easier to spend all show saying Show is going to murder Bryan and then have him murder Bryan.

The upside, for me, is how hot a position Cody is in right now. The crowd were well behind him and when he comes back, he's going to be in a far better position to kick ass than Bryan imo. I half expected HHH to fire Show after he punched Bryan; at least that would explain why they fought to keep him a face. But especially with Show who flip flops between face and heel every second week, it makes no sense he would be that distraught. And it was nearly better not bringing up the "Iron Clad Contract" than bringing it up and saying it is actually quite easy to break it.

So yeah. Problem isn't with the heat building, which I feel they did well. Just with the destruction of Bryan's character and the lousy booking of Show, the episode didn't impress me at all. It sums it up I got through 3 hours in 1 hour this morning.

Yea why did they have to make big show cry? It would have been better to see him more pissed off that he could not do anything and was getting angry instead of this whole crying giant thing .

Stephanie McMahon seems to be stretching Kayfabe a bit far with her "the little 12 year old girl that you used to help out."? I note Stephanie was around 23 when Big Show joined the WWF.
