Stevie Nicks for the female role.

James Brown on the other side.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned Trent Reznor.

Give this thread enough time and everyone who ever held a mic in anger will be mentioned.

Axl is/was fantastic depending on your opinion. Had a great voice, brilliant energy on stage and really got the crowd going.
Freddie was all of the above, minus the unpredictability of will he won't he show up, can he sing tonight, and always gave his all.
bon Scott, great voice, excellent innuendo, although the front man job was kind of shared by Angus.
I cant put a guitar player as the best front man as they are limited in their movements
, but hetfield does a good job.
Id have to go with Freddie. Though I would like to see axl rose with myles Kennedy s voice now!!

I don't know how he hasn't been put forward yet. Arguably the most talented guitarist ever that just oozed raw talent and blasted chirasma. True legend in every sense of the word.

Well then rory gallagher has to be taken into account!! As hendrix once said when asked whats it like to be the best guitar player in the world- I dont know, ask rory gallagher!!
Although I'm thinking more for guitar ability now than front man.

If Glenn Frey and Don Henley were the one person they would be the most successful. Even splitting the songs between them I think they're still a runner for the most succesful.

Jim morrison would have to be up there. Came across as a bit of a dick on occasion but definitely had presence and he became the show

Seconded, can't believe it took almost sixty posts for him to get a mention. He's the ultimate rock band front-man.

Ian Brown.....the frontman Liam Gallagher tried to be!

Keith Richards. Jagger was great but your eyes are drawn to Richards
Neil Young front Crazy Horse, 20 minutes solos and feedback pure heaven

    Mick Jagger.
I'm no great fan of The Stones, but Mick fits the bill as a truly legendary front man.

Matthew Bellamy is a hugely impressive front man as well.

Has to be between Axel or Freddie, but for me Axel shades it. And I am saying that having been at both good and bad gigs of his.

He's terrible. Overrated voice in an overrated band, a total d!ckhead and a crap performer.

Roger Daltrey. The chrome throated sparkplug that communicated Pete Townshend's (sometimes outlandish) ideas & concepts to the masses.

Saw him in action in the O2 last June & for a guy now pushing 70, he still has a real stage presence.

    Who are ya'?
