AAI are still considering candidate venues.

I believe the change was requested by the National Endurance coach in order to allow a longer gap before the European cross country fixture on 8th December.

I presume the course in St.Annes for the Novice will be the same as the Masters was earlier this year?

Very good, any idea what venues are being considered....

Hopefully won't have to travel half the country for the nationals, somewhere nice and central will be grand :) Anyone have any ideas on who the candidates are? Apparently their gone even stricter with selecting venues now.

Is there a list of any other countys XC fixtures anywhere? Tipperary especially. Hoping to run Novices this year. Also any tips for training and prepping for XC?
    thanks

I will be concentrating alot on the XC for the next few months. Its all new to me, but I've been doing nearly all my running on grass this summer so I should be in respectable shape.
I just got my first pair of spikes yesterday. I haven't run in 2 days so haven't used them yet. I have my first race next weekend. Should I get a few runs in with them beforehand?
I'm interested to hear how people here feel after completing a season of XC. Do you feel much stronger when you get back onto the roads/track? I think that it will be good to get variety; XC, roads, and eventually the track. You won't get bored thats for sure.

Maybe do a short run in the spikes just to make sure they don't rub anywhere, and maybe a few strides as well. I think it's great to mix in a bit of cross country, it teaches you how to race because times go out the window and you just worry about beating the guy in front of you. And you should have a little bit of extra strength at the end of the season which should benefit your road running.

Some changes to the list above -

The Dublin Uneven Age Championship is on Sunday December 1st, in Tymon Park, starting at 11am.
The Dublin Intermediates are later that day, 2.30 for women, 2.50 for men.

I'm not a member of an athletics club but I would like to do some XC racing over the winter. Can I enter any of these races or am I limited to BHAA events? Any other options?

A kindly mod may edit my first post with these two tables and delete this post. There are some lovely mods around here. Apologies for any errors while editing, just let one of the lovely mods know and they'll edit the opening post ;) Also if anyone wants to add times etc or put other fixtures in I'm sure you can just quote, edit etc and one of the lovely mods will then update first post in the thread. It's prob the best place for all fixtures.

I dont think you can run a national cross country race indoors!

Anyway the Santry Demense was decided in late August as the venue for inter counties

So the Juvenile Even age XC All Irelands are going to be in Santry as well, is it flat or hilly course?

what's the story with the xc races? are they open to all? looking mainly at the munster races, but they mainly seems to be some sort of championship, i'm only looking for a bit of muddy running to give it a go!!

I se it's €20 to run the Gerry Farnan this year. Not cheap.....I know it is a great day of racing but! Interesting noises apparently from the Opw about races in the park and damage caused by them ( according to Lindie Naughton)

OPW are being very arsy about races in the park at the moment.

Edit: Dublin Athletics site still being down is pretty poor considering there is a race in a few days.

Big turnout in St. Annes today. Nice to see ladies teams from Raheny, Tallaght, DCD and Front Runners which should bulk up the numbers.

Absolute abysmal sh*t from me. Don't think I've ever been so close to bawling my eyes out after a race before. Sh*te end to a sh*te week.

Hope it's cold and miserable for the next one, weather more suited to track season today.

Ahh now, not my fault the bills weren't paid.. :P . Btw the sites hosting and domain registrar has been changed, some recent results are missing and will be restored soon.
Some people may still get the hosting suspended message, but i'm sure most should be able to access the site now. The results for today's race are expected to be up on it soon I was told, I can't tell you when as it's not something I'm actively involved in.
I just do work on/off for the DAB site btw, I'm not "in charge" of it so was not creating regular site backups. Unfortunately this downtime issue was out of my control, but I appreciate it's a nuisance.

Wasn't wearing a watch but fairly sure it was a couple of hundred metres short - not much more than that. It was a fast xc course though.

The locations have been finalised for the upcoming 2013 National Cross Country Championships. The Woodie’s DIY Inter County and Juvenile Even Age Championships will take place in Santry Demesne, Dublin on the 17th of November.

The Woodie’s DIY National Novice and Juvenile Uneven Age Championships are scheduled for the 15th of December and will take place in Waterford Sports Campus.
