Where are all the mutants?

Anyone here have a genetic disorder of some kind? I have Marfan Syndrome which also caused Raynuards Syndrome and Scolious for me. I find the thought of a mutated section of DNA amusing, either improving or destroying a person. So, any other ones here?

The average person has >100 mutations, most of the time we don't even know about them.

I have a genetic disorder I inherited from my mother's side. It's something I was embarrassed about for most of my life until I joined a support group and started to deal with it. Unfortunately it's nothing as glamorous as anything you would find at Professor X's school for the gifted :(. I would much rather be Mystique.

One of my fingernails has a tendency to split, my father has the same thing on the same finger.

    Genetics.

Yeah, I know, but I am asking about people with diagnosed disorders. Its pretty cool how many little changes are in a persons body though. :)

I am so glad you joined a support group and got help through it, some times it can be tough. Prof. X school seemed to hard a job, least no one is running after you to lock you up :p. Seriously though, glad you got support.

I had club foot and jaundice at the same time. Not quite Cyclops but mutant-like nonetheless.

If you're not going to tell us what it is, don't mention it at all. Gonna be up all night wondering now.

It's a rare adipose disorder (RAD). This means I have some abnormal subcutaneous adipose tissue(SAT) and it cannot be lost through diet or exercise. As a result, I am thin and fat at the same time. If I starved to death, the abnormal SAT would still be there.

You are gonna make me get lost in a wikipedia link clicking game! (I read a lot about random illnesses). I think saying what the rare illnesses are is helpful, because people are aware of them and might spot it in someone who was not diagnosed or getting support. How much can medication help, if at all? Thanks for sharing.

I have central heterochromia. It is an eye condition where there are two colours in the same iris. The main part of my iris is blue, but I've a gold ring around my pupil.

I fell for a girl with the kind where one eye had both colours half and half. Does it affect your eye sight at all?

I actually have a gold ring around the centre of my eye. That's pretty cool.

I have green blue and gold coloured eyes. Never seen eyes like mine

Instead of a mouth, I've got four arses.

Afraid not, but this picture is as close as I can find to what mine looks like. My gold ring is closer to the pupil though, and I don't wear mascara.

Until I get my X-Men costume of course :p

Awesome! You better avoid any Asian people for the next few days, I might hire them to take your eyes. And yes that came out ten times creepier than planned :p. My eyes are mainly pale blue with green around my pupil and brown flecks, just like my granny.

This is why we need to start genetically engineering humans. We don't need cancer causing genes, we don't need baldness genes, we don't need colour blindness genes. We could eradicate so many harmful or useless genes

Seems to be not so rare that there isn't lots of research done into it.

The Healy-Raes have an inherited disorder, FCS, (Flat Cap Syndrome). It's an abnormal growth on top of the head which can be removed, (but the results are not good).

I have a condition where all my higher brain functions are handled by my penis, I believe it effects nearly 50% of the population and they don't know it !!

But the other 'hand', 50%,(well, maybe not all of them), are allowed to handle your penis and therefore indirectly control your higher brain functions.

Anyone else in your family look like they have it? Some times it skips generations, or a random non family line related mutation. Has your lung collapsed? The only things to worry about is the lungs and the aorta bursting. The rest of it is kinda physical features and none of your body being held together enough by your tissues. If you do have it, no worries. Your heart and lungs are monitered and if need be drugs used. Let me know how you get on.

I have this, only I have gold flecks in the blue part, too. I love my eyes because of it, nobody else I know has the same colour eyes as me. :)

I also have PCOS and a globular heart.

The best mutation I've seen is in my ex's family. Both herself and her father have 3 kidneys, two perfectly working ones and one redundant one just sitting there not connected up.

I have this as well. I have light blue eyes with an orange/gold band around the centre. My friend says my eyes look like sunflowers.
