Transferring from ACCA to ICAI/ICAEW

I am currently in Australia. When i first signed up to ACCA it was marketed as the global qualification. The first country I go to outside of Ireland i.e. Australia they never even heard of ACCA in most cases.

Anyway this is my predicament. I am a fully qualified ACCA and I was wondering if anyone has transferred to ICAEW or ICAI using thepathways to membership or elevation program? If so was it worth doing?

Not to sure about ICAI.... From what I read myself if you are ACCA qualified you can gain membership to ICAEW once you have 5 years post qualification experience - once your an FCCA then.

Also if you hear what the deal is with ICAI, I wouldn't mind knowing myself

Seems you can do it once you are not living in the UK and have 5 years PQE

^^ ACCA make it painful to apply for a practicing cert.

It'd be easier for me to switch membership to ICAEW and the practice cert for a sole trader is free.

The insurance seems very cheap too. Mmmmmmmm
