Can't wait for Bendo v Pettis.
Been waiting for this rematch for so long.
I really hope Pettis wins it. Bendo is a really unlikeable character in my opinion. He seems very fake or something.

Poirier v Koch should be a cracker too. Hope Poirier takes it.

The rest of the card doesn't excite me very much at all really. Especially Mendes v Guida. It'll either be Guida bouncing around the cage for 3 rounds, or Mendes being a wet blanket. I hope I'm wrong though.

I think Pettis has it in him to win. I know Bendo's been on a tear but I really think Pettis has refined his striking. I think he has the most technical striking at the lower weights, besides maybe Mighty Mouse.

I think Barnett should win but something tells me that Frank is going to pull something out of the bag. I hate Mir, always seems smug to me.

Poirier vs. Koch should be great while it lasts. Shame Conor is out for so long, I think it would have been great for him to get matched up with the loser of this fight to really launch him towards the top of the division. While I think he can beat both I think a fight with the winner would be putting him in the title picture too early.

I think Mendes will destroy Guida, he's really putting his game together and I think he'd be happy to stand with Guida. He's like a mini Ellenberger, great wrestling and explosive, powerful striking.

Mendes has been on a tear recently. I really hope Guida gets KTFO

im really looking forward to that fight and chad to KO him too. If anyone has been laying a praying and not engaging recently its guida and he wont be able to do that to chad!

Stacked card with a potential Fight of the Year main event. I think Pettis has a good chance simply because of the psychological edge he will bring into this rematch, but I do think Henderson is the more improved fighter since they faced off last time. I'm gonna say a split decision for Bendo? :P

Nikita Krylov on the prelim card
Kinda interested to see how this dude does

    http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Nikita-Krylov-110937

    Combat Sambo
    6'3'' and fast apparently.

only started fighting last year - had 12 fights in 12 months - won them all in the first round, 10 by submission.

He's up against a beast of a man in Palelei. Interesting to see can he sub him first round ! I'm thinkin arm triangle

    Vinny M.?

Robert Drysdale will be making his debut once he gets over staph. One of the best grapplers around. 6 fights, 6 first round submissions!

I hope Henderson loses this. He is one of the most boring champions around. His last 7 wins have gone to decision and whilst I've no problem going the distance but at least be a convincing champ. He's not even an entertaining fighter to watch. Just can't stand the guy and hope Pettis takes the belt off him and shuts him up.

can't wait for this one. An old school feel to it.

The master of war v The master of smug

I call Barnett by condescension choke in round 2.

I think Pettis looks in fantastic shape. He looks like he didn't need to cut an awful lot of weight and just looked very fresh.

Also, I'll admit I'm not Henderson's biggest fan so I'd love Pettis to do a number on him. Should be a good fight.

And does anybody know of a good website to watch the fights on Sunday morning? I didn't get bt sport. A man has to draw the line somewhere

Benson looks like he's coming straight out of Auschwitz whenever he's weighing in, he will be huge for the fight tomorrow night.

This lad was 4/9 when i first checked this but was available
at 8/13 today and has now shortened to 8/11
Its not often you see that much of a drift although it did
    happen with sonnen (shogun) recently
Im thinking of backing at that price but i dont know either fighter
so maybe not a good idea

Any chance the channels it will be on could be included in the opening post?

    It'll be on BT Sports.
This isn't an event that'll generate loads of interest in here apart from the regulars so I doubt there'll be too many folks asking what channel.

I watched all his fights, being short as they are, and I have to retract my position slightly because he fought a lot of jokers and in a lot of barely legal school hall type events but still... he did finish them with ease and he does look legit in doing so. He's up against a big big dude, an aggressive dude who can throw bombs so he'll need to move well, jab well and take a sub as soon as it pops up - while he's dry

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,339 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

    Facebook prelims starting now!

    looks risky, hard to call

both have finished most of their fights in the first

his opponent does look dangerous having watched a few vids
    of both

Great arm-in guillotine ! never usually works not many can do that that quick that synched and trapping the right arm with his leg was awesome. That roll over from a take down attempt is not used enough IMO. Saw it done sweet in the MMA league years back straight into full mounted triangle.... that guy just got his black belt here recently.

these early prelims could be quicker than wednesdays fight nite with the
    heavies being the third fight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,830 ✭✭✭Be like Nutella

Hope Randy comes in disguised as Dana and corners his son : )

I see palelei was supposed to fight miocic before he was replaced
by big country simply to add a big name to the 161 card after
the main event didnt happen between barao/wineland

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,830 ✭✭✭Be like Nutella

wow that's a step down, he had a great opportunity there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,981 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

Might be better off here after miocic beating the pisss
    out of big roy

would have been a big ask first time out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,981 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

    impressive by Al

couture did well to go the distance
both well able to take punishment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,339 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

Was pulling for Couture pre fight simply for walking in to QOTSA :p

Iaquinta looked really really good. That's the end of Couture. He's simply not up to the standard

I wish Ryan had more explosive hands but he uses what he has best he can, good grappler, good reach, tough as nails but sadly never gona make it to the top looking at him there. He's big for 155. No way he'd make 145 and hands are too soft for 170.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,866 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

Couture could make flyweight I'd say, I thought he looked a bit soft round the edges today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,339 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

Yeah he's soft alright. He could cut to 145 but there's no point. I don't think he's going anywhere in the FW division either.

He's not outstanding at any one aspect of the game and not good enough at his overall game to compete at the top level.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,866 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

What are the odds on a first round submission here?

Even if it goes to a second, Soa won't have the gas tank to go more than 5 minutes.

That sums him up pretty well unfortunately, but he will probably find a home at Bellator

two possible outcomes and thats them

This is embarrassing. A fight at this level should not have both fighters struggling to stand in the second round.
