With my team it's a tight call between a few, so I'll do what I normally do in these situations and captain RVP. More often than not it works out well.

sturridge or coutinho could be a good option against a tired villa team

Nearly all my big players playing away, i like to have a home captain, so although not in the poll, it will be Fellaini for me...

    Soldado right now.

    Dzeko or Soldado.

Soldado or Miralles(who isnt in the poll?), I'll probably go with Soldado but I think Miralles will do well this week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 492 ✭✭moreau

Soldado. Hopefully debut @ White Hart Lane will be extra bit of motivation

If I had RVP I would certainly captain him

Only have 1 city player in Zabaleta. Was thinking of captaining him. Think that should be 12 easy points. Failing that maybe Giroud

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,320 ✭✭✭v3ttel

I wildcarded this week and have Soldado, RVP & Lambert up front. All three are possible options.

At the moment I have Soldado (C), RVP (VC)......subject to change. I have Miralles at home to WBA too, but don't see a need to risk him after he didn't produce a return in GW1.

    Torn between RVP or Benteke

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,420 ✭✭✭Invincible

    Soldado looks obvious for now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

I have options this week. Before the season started and RVP scored against Swansea I fancied him to do a job against Chelsea and Liverpool too so chances are it'll be him with Soldado as VC.

Mirallas would be an outside punt and even Walcott after a better game last night and up against Briggs of Fulham at the weekend but there's a reason I'm paying big bucks for RVP. Captain ahoy.

I voted for Soldado. But I'm really not sure. I'm tempted by Dzeko. He could do some serious damage against Cardiff, if he starts. And that's a big IF.

Captaining a West Ham could be a really sneaky differential. Apparently Gutierrez and Tiote are both doubts for Newcastle, and they looked seriously crap against City. Obviously it would be a bit risky, but could pay off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,470 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

i'd be almost positive that Dzeko is starting at the weekend.

    Aguero isn't fully fit.
    Negredo is new.
Jovetic is the same, and hasn't at all been bedded in.

Dzeko has been called the main striker, and is the one with a full pre-season under his belt, as well as 90 minutes the other night, where he was exceptionally good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,724 ✭✭✭kennyb3

Am I the only one who doesn't think soldado is an obvious choice? I have him, he scored, swansea conceded 4- all looks good on paper.

However Swansea outplayed united for large parts of last week, kept the ball a huge amount, don't usually concede a lot. Spurs only won 1 nil with a Vertonghen goal in the corresponding fixture last year.

I really rate Soldado, but he's scored 2 peno's so far (one pre-season) and there is a lot of settling in for spurs to do yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,128 ✭✭✭✭Oranage2

Aguaro or silva, not decided yet.

Benteke might be an interesting one - people without him would be left further behind.

I don't know if it's a big IF at all. Are you basing it on injury?
Because I don't think he'll be dropped on form from Monday.

I had him last week and was expecting a good return from him. I thought he played absolute muck...but then again, he just played fantasy football muck.
I was shocked when the stadium announcer named him as man of the match.....
(He could have gotten me 20 points, how can he be MOTM!!!!! :) )

In fairness, he had a very good match if you take away the missed chances, I'm pretty confident he'll be given time to convert these chances. I'm giving him the armband.

The fact that he stayed on the pitch when Negredo came on was a big plus for his chances.

I have Dzeko but going with Ricccckkkkkaaayyyyy Lambert!

Soldado for me. None of the people in my leagues who had a great first week have him in, so presuming they don't transfer him in during the week, it's a great opportunity for me to start making a comeback if he racks up a few points.

    .

I'm not basing it on anything - I'm just a naturally cautious person! I'd just hate to captain him and then for him to be rotated. But you're in reality it's not very likely.

I get that, I think my post was a way of trying to really convince myself :D
I still have Silva's little face looking at me in my head saying, you should of picked me you eejit.

I'd be very surprised if he doesn't play, great form in pre-season, MotM Monday and he's a better "away" player in my eyes.

Well with aguero, silva and soldado, I have a tough choice. I put aguero as captain so will probably stick with it, soldado is a good striker but swansea are a handy team so the best he could get is one goal and there's a better chance aguero could get 2.

No, I am same. I am def going to captain him but am uneasy, he is new to the club and Tottenham are still trying to gel without Bale.

This is reflected over on FISO, Soldado is a lot lower, lower than dzecko I think....

Captain is tricky this week for us without RVP

Benteke for me. Most of my other star players are away and I nearly always go for a home captain. Good record against Liverpool too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,706 ✭✭✭premierstone

Dzeko or Soldado for me, leaning towards Dzeko at the moment, Spurs were far from impressive against Palace and City were very sharp against Newcastle, also Swansea are infinitely better than Cardiff.

Dzeko will definitely start, Pelligrini is a 4-4-2 man and Dzecko definitely has one of those two nailed down for now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,033 ✭✭✭who_ru

had negredo and navas in my team last week, both of whom did nowt. doesn't even look as if negredo will get a start anytime soon. i have transferred koscienly for lovren but thinking of ditching negredo but also have lukaku. can't see him starting against man u either.

    will captain miralles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,612 ✭✭✭tony1980

Soldado with two tonight and Spurs win 5-0. Townsend was very impressive, 2 or 3 assists I think. Spurs will be going into the Swansea game with bags of confidence, I think Soldado may actually be a safe bet for Captain this week, looks a real class finisher!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 140 ✭✭The Neon Knight

Dzeko for sure. City looked ominously good and he should have scored a hatfull on monday night.

Torn between Theo, RVP and Bentekkers. Very tough to choose one!

Swansea won 5-1 in their Europa too so not as straight forward as that :pac:

I feel like the priest in Father Ted trying to decide between biscuit and cake. Soldado, no aguero, no wait soldado

As much as Dzeko was so good on Monday, I'm still worried he may not play Sunday. Think I'm just gonna go Soldado instead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,186 ✭✭✭G1032

I've got Sturridge, Dzeko and Soldado. I'll captain Soldado. I'm already 40+ points behind in my private money league so I need to start getting these choices correct quickly. Voted for Soldado.

this is my reluctance to go with city strikers long term, you can never actually captain them with assurance they'll play.

    soldado for me

40 points is very little with 37 weeks to go.

    don't be worrying yet.

the worst thing people do is panic at this stage.

As per always I'm sticking with the FFS captain poll which has Soldado at the top.

I had a dream that I missed the deadline and didn't captain Soldado. He scored twice and I regretted it. So have the armband, Roberto.

It's hard to overlook RVP though....

I had put it down to watching Spurs in the Europa where he scored twice last night but......

I'd feel a lot more comfortable captaining Soldado if he didnt score 2 last night

I'm thinking Walcott could have a good week also. I'm definitely leaning towards Soldado, but Silva and Walcott are considerations.

    I'm holding strong on Dzeko....

    I'm holding strong on Dzeko....

Fair play, could be a great differential.

I don't have the liathrodi for this though!
