Fight in Newbridge the other night. People in the comments saying there's a traveler wedding in the area over the weekend.

Make of it what you will.

Whoever drove the white transit should be charged with attempted murder.

Where did I say they are orchestrating violence?

They may condemn the violence in the media but what actual steps are they taking to stop it?

Will they help the Gardai identify those involved?

Did they give the Gardai a heads-up their was a big event in town, where tensions may rise and to have extra resources at the ready?

etc.. This isn't the first time feuds have happened.

They may condemn the violence in the media but what actual steps are they taking to stop it? It is not their role to stop violence as you well know

Will they help the Gardai identify those involved? Do you have evidence that they KNOW who did what to whom and when?

Did they give the Gardai a heads-up their was a big event in town, where tensions may rise and to have extra resources at the ready? What on earth makes you think they even knew such an event was taking place?

You are obviously sadly lacking in what the role and purpose of PP is!
But sure belt with your spoting if it makes you feel better.

As the left says you can't judge all by the actions of a few and I have not met every single one.
However every single one I have had the misfortune to meet has been a total scummer.

I pressed play and the little add on the bottom of the video was for driving lessons in Kildare :D

Who are these Pavee point you speak of

Pavee Point (PP) is a government-funded non-governmental organization based in Dublin, Ireland that was formed to improve the human rights of Irish Travellers and to bridge the economic and social inequalities between Travellers and settled people.

Where were/are the Gardai in all of this? I'm pretty sure if I tried to run someone down with my car in front of witnesses and video(both personal and no doubt CCTV) I'd be arrested in double quick time and marched away.

There does seem to be an vibe of untouchable regarding some elements of society. TBH I don't blame the Gardai for this. Scant resources and getting scanter. Even if they try to affect an arrest it could get ugly really quickly with mates and family of the perp. Then if they do arrest and charge them, unless they lock em up they'll just disappear like smoke. No fixed abode being handy that way. Some have literally become outlaws.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

The work of Pavee Point is based on two key premises:

Real improvement in Travellers' living circumstances and social situation requires the active involvement of Travellers themselves.

Non-Travellers have a responsibility to address the various process which serve to exclude Travellers from participating as equals in society.

The only thing I have defended is PP, who have never claimed or asked to be held responsible for the behaviour of others.
Show me where I defended the criminal or anti social behaviour of any group?

When the first quote is dealt with is when I might entertain the second one.

Yes and if Wibbs tried to run me down I would be straight to the Guards giving a statement and willing to go to court to help in the prosecution. In many feud situations (if this is one) noone is willing to say anything which makes prosecutions much more difficult.

Also there has been cuts in the Guards around Kildare. Speaking to a Guard (a few years ago now) it could be the case that one car is covering an area from Naas to Kildare Town thereby making any kind of response in force impossible

Could just have been a busy time.

Girl was raped locally here a few weeks back and the guy was discovered and subsequently chased by taxi drivers at rank near by and held down by them (on one of busiest streets in Dublin at 9pm at night) and yet, despite maybe a dozen calls they must have received from the taxi drivers and others, no Guards showed up for over a half hour.

It is the vibe people like yourself and others give off that causes the blood pressure in people like me to rise.
You think we are all nasty racists and we should treat these people like equals.
But being equal does not mean been held equally accountable for their actions.
No pub will serve them left wingers call that racist.
I call it common sense to protect their business.

I will not treat them like everybody else or give them a chance because I have had my fingers burned too many times.

Which is how they have a lot of work to do. For every action like the incident with the van sets back improvement to social situation of the average traveler. Look at some of the post in this thread and the attitude toward traveler.

Exactly and in order for attitudes to be changed, behaviour such as the above must be actively tackled from within the community.

Just out of interest, are there any Gardai from the travelling community?

Precisley, instead of condeming outright the criminal and lunatic behaviour of those involved, certain extremist posters would prefer to attack the one group who are at least trying to bring about change in the social, educational, health, and behaviour within the travelling community.
No right thinking person can or should defend criminality or anti social behaviour, but that does not require them them to lash out at those who are at least trying to bring about change.

I never called you racist or inferred that you were a racist, thats just your own concience in all probability.
Its illegal for a pub or any other service to refuse them, are you suggesting that one section of society be allowed to break the law because it suits them to?
Finally, I'm a lot of things, but a left winger aint one of them bro!

As regards pubs and hotels should they break the law or have their premises demolished?

seriously, I do sympathise with any business that is faced with hosting a large number of travellers, if only from the point of the fear they have that something will kick off.
That is why so many of them actually close when there is a fair (like in Borris) or a funeral on.
I'm not defending criminality, I am defending those like PP who are making the effort to bring about change.
