Is my diet keeping me weak?

    Hey guys,

I have been using the past few months to try and clean up my diet after a year of doing GOMAD. Now this took me to 14 stone at 5 foot 9, a 160 kg x 3 squat, 180 x 3 deadlift, 60kg x 5 ohp and 90kg x 5 bench press.

Ive taken up the paleo diet, and consider my self to be doing about 80% paleo. I dont count my macros for the day but this is an example of my daily diet while I work full time..

Breakfast 8am - 6 whole eggs, water, whey protein and oats in a shake OR else
half a sweet potato, a striplion steak ( the superquinn one, not sure of size) and vegetables mostly spinach. the sweet potato is covered in at least 2 tea spoons of butter.

Lunch 11-11.30 am - Lunch is usually a protein shake with peanut butter in it and whey protein. If i have the sweet potato/steak combo then I will have the whey protein + 6 eggs and water.

Dinner - 1.30 am - Either 1 or 2 striplion fillets, usually about 600g of protein if I am correct. 1 full sweet potato and vegetables, usually brocolli. Butter on the sweet potato and glass of milk.

Pre workout - 6pm - Whey protein with banana or else blue berries.

Post workout - Tall glass of milk, and more meat and potatoes. usually 1 striplion and half a sweet potato with veg.

Before bed - a teaspoon of peanut butter, zinc and magnesium.

all steak is cooked in virgin olive oil, sometimes i eat an avocado too with dinner.

I weighed my self today, 79kg. I am hovering about 79-81 kg. I am currently stuck at 315 lbs squat x3, i failed bench press of 90kg x 5 today on the fourth rep and im at about 160kg x 3 deadlift. My OHP has completed stalled at about 55-57kg x 3.

the point is, last summer my lifts were going up weekely. Im still doing madcows 5x5 and my squat especially went up weekly.

What do you guys think, should I mix up my diet? To be perfectly honest I am loving being more lean and healthier, But I want to get stronger too!

    Any reccomendations?

Diet seems fine. Its more then likely either your technique on the lifts needs work or you need to start addressing weak points rather then just hitting the lifts themselves.

OK thank you for the reply. I am going to just mix up my training. I will start with 5/3/1 Boring but big and work off this for a few months.

Maybe the stress of weekly gains is just too much at this point in time.

OK so I'm right in saying you were benching 90kg x 5 at 14 stone (around 90kg bodyweight).
You have now dropped to 79/80kg and you failed in the 90kg x 5 bench?
You cannot compare your lifts at two massively different bodyweights. it just doesn't make sense.
