TV coverage of MNF

Just been reading one of the NFL forums from the UK. It seems the BBC are not covering any NFL this season. Last season they had the game on Monday hid behind the red button.
The coverage stank to be honest but at least it was free to air. I usually watched the highlights on the Tuesday.
Also on Radio BBC5 live extra there was coverage of a game on Sunday night.
It seems that has gone also.
Speculation is rife on who might pick up MNF.

    Presume BT/ESPN will take it.

I hope not. Speculation about Channel 5 or ITV 4.

It's on Sky anyway, can't remember if you still have to tune it in manually but it's definitely there.

I enjoy the Chan4 coverage, i like carlson and nate. They usually have a few early games on at the start of the season, then it all goes to after midnight.

That'll be a surprise to Nat, think he said (not in so many words) on Americarnage he was expecting C4 to get it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,238 ✭✭✭Justin10

Supposedly they had it up on their listings and then they took it back down.
It came from NFL UK forum.

I guess with channel 4 and eurosport my football is sorted, seeing as we git rid of sky sports.

I hope eurosport coverage is good. First game is eagles vs redskins

How was the coverage on Eurosport last night? Did they have their own studio to return to from time to time or was it all a US feed?

All the US feed. For halftime we got shots of the stadium accompanied by silence, but other then that it was fine.

How did they handle commercials in the US?

I was watching the HD version on UPC and for a few minutes early on, the coverage switched to golf. Did this happen anyone else? The SD version wasn't affected though.

I watched standard on Sky and it switched to golf for about 30 seconds.

Oh ok. So it must have been both then and I just switched to the SD version just as it switched back.

Jaysus stumbled across the MNF football highlights on Eurosport last nite. Unreal. I hadn't come back to the thread to see that they were in fact going to show some NFL. I've Gamepass and UPC but no Sky, talk about being well covered. Esp looking forward to watching the MNF in HD now, amazin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,017 ✭✭✭Leslie91

Jaysus Sky are all of a sudden in the ha'penny place!!!!. So much football available to us terrestrial folk all of a sudden. Great news.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭OldRio

I wonder if the coverage on eurosport and channel 4 will be blocked out in Ireland. Sky have the ability to do so.
    Jaysus this could get ugly.

Most likely will. **** sh1tanta are. You know they will push sky to block out Irish coverage of Eurosport and C4 so they can get more people signing up.

Even if they do block the version of Channel 4 on the Irish EPG you'll still be able to tune it in through other channels. Free to air channels cannot be blocked.

I found that the commentary was almost inaudible. Anyone else get this. I hope it's not like that for the season.

C4 and eurosport well still be showing the football?

On a Sky box you cannot record 'other channels' and given the time the games are on that is a problem for some viewers.

If you're watching it the next day you'll be able to watch it on 4oD (Channel 4 On Demand). Perhaps they'll block the live feed, but I seriously doubt they'll block their online content. All of Channel 4's football coverage and supporting shows are on 4oD.

Well with my dire broadband connection 4oD is not an option.
Just checked and it seems some shows are geo blocked on 4oD
