What's your take on the speculation of Lote or AN Other Leinster signing to bolster the ranks?

Talks broke down with AN Other. Lote is on his way though!

Any questions for tomorrow night's recording?

I'd be interested in your views on question raised in the Ulster Team Talk/Gossip/Rumours Thread:
...As for people saying give Jackson time etc etc. How long are we going to keep saying that?...

I'm a big fan - but does Jackson have the technical and mental skills to lead Ulster to a trophy this season? What are the panel's views of his main strengths and weaknesses.

Question 2 would be tactics - has the Munster gameplan noticeably changed this season? It's a little early to judge maybe but there were clear flaws last year and are changes to fly half this year, so does the gameplan seem to have changed and how should it change to get the best out of available players (with dynamic loose forwards and a very exciting backline) ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

Yes the signing of Lote and the weighing up of benefits/downsides please :)

  • Is Keatley prime to mount a genuine challenge for Ireland recognition?

Though the departure of Sexton has many effects on Irish Rugby, some of the benefits will be that we have 4 Irish out halfs starting games this season. Given Schmidt's policies in the past, are we likely to see 3 and maybe even 4 of those out halves play over the coming 12 months in Green?

The 'Keith Earls' effect on Fergus McFadden. He's scored 7 tries in 19 appearances for Ireland, but will his versatility render him a 'useful' #23 or a necessity? What position will Matt O'Connor play him in most this season? And what position would he want to do best in to improve his claim for International appearances.

Paddy Wallace on wind-down or set to have a massive season at Ulster given that Jackson's progression hasn't been a straight and narrow path? Will Ulster be able to play 2/3 of a season with a 10-12 axis with less than 70 senior appearances between them? (Olding/Marshall/Jackson - choose 2 from the 3)

Is it time BOD and perhaps more relevantly Irish rugby fans in general "let go" of BODgate from the Lions 3rd test? Or should Ireland bottle that and other perceived grievances (Heaslip, O'Brien) for the clash with Wales in February?

Could the panel select a bolter from each of the 4 Irish provinces for Schmidt's first proper squad. Will Connacht still be represented when the numbers are reduced? Cheers.

    Any questions for tonight's recording?

    Hello from the Scottish Wilderness.
1)Do you think that the ERC teams' performances will be affected by the ongoing mess over the future of European rugby?

    2)
Why do some teams seem fixated on the guy in the 10 shirt being the goal kicker. Often the 10 is the best for the job but when he clearly isn't what is the solution? Here are a few guys who didn't play 10 but were entrusted with the job. Some of them were even great kickers.
    Don Clark
    Tom Kiernan.
    Michael Kiernan
    Simon Mason
    Brian Marshall.
    Ollie Campbell (10 and 12)
    Bob Hiller
    Dusty Hare
    Simon Hodgkinson
    Jon Webb
    Fergie McCormack
    Neil Jenkins
    Percy Montgomery
    Matt Burke
    Chris Patterson

Too late for this week but a question maybe for next week when I assume you'll be building up to the HEC. It's kind of related to Jaco's question above.

Has the shine come off this season's HEC because of the crisis over the future of European Rugby or has it had the opposite effect and actually added to the build up to this years tournament? Personally I think it has taken away from the tournament and in fact I think the whole mess has taken something away from rugby in general. What do the panel think?

    Personally I blame IBF:D
