Most active dinghy racing club in South Dublin?

    Hi,

I'll soon be moving back to Ireland (south Dublin is the plan) and I'm hoping to get back into dinghy sailing and racing. I'm not sure what type of boat I'm looking for, I'm not even sure if I want a single or double hander. Pretty high on my list of desires though is to be part of a club with an active dinghy scene, and ideally a specific fleet for one design racing. At the minute I'm considering anything from a Laser to a 49er or foiling moth! Something a little exciting would be fun but I don't want to be the only one sailing that type.

So of the south Dublin clubs/fleets, which would you recommend?

    Thanks for any help!

They all have active dinghy fleets, so pick one really.
DMYC if you're on a budget, any of the others if you've a bit of loot.

The racing is all organised by DBSC which is a corinthian club so it really doesn't matter which, if any, YC you get involved in. :)

Great, thanks. I'd no idea DBSC organised all the racing. I've had a look on their website, lots of good dinghies although I can't work out which has the biggest turn out.

Any idea which classes have the best turn out for racing on a Saturday?

Club-wise, is one any better than the others for a social beer after racing?

I sail big boats so can't really say but If I was to hazard a guess I'd say SB3's are the most popular atm. Have a look at the results pages on DBSC.org and you'll get an idea how many were out on any particular date.

Similarly, I sail on different days to the dinghy fleets so don't really know what their social scene is like, sorry. :)
