just wondering if anyone had used the leangains, or carb cycling diets. i googled them out of interest yesterday. both of them seem to advocate fasting and then getting a lot of carbs in after your workout. the leangains severly restricts carbs on none workout days, and then loads of carbs and little fat on days that you workout. with protien being high every day. the carb back loading diet advocates no carbs during day and then binge on them after your workout. its seems to me you'd have loads of body sugar highs and extreme lows on these diets. also they both seem to have very low fat. anyone tried them out of interest

I use carb cycling extensively with myself and my clients. Most people don't really get big energy swings on these diets. Carb intake is something that is very personal to most people's metabolism and takes abit of experimenting to find out how much you need on a low versus high day.

On the leangains front, if you look at his system he has people lifting weights 2-3 times a week this means they have 2-3 high carb days and the rest are lowish carbs

If you search my post history I done a write up on carb cycling a couple of months back.
