As far as I'm aware, there's no 24 hour gyms currently operating in Ireland.

Saw this facebook page today, looks like this US chain , Anytime Fitness, is going to open a branch in Dun Laoghaire in the nearish future. http://anytimefitness.ie/gyms/UK-0049/co-dublin-dublin

€29.95/month pre-sale offer, according to facebook. Plans for five clubs in Ireland.

I've nothing to do with them, thought it might be of interest.

Are there really that many people that need to train at 3 in the morning?

I just see it like late night shops or pharamacies, chippers etc. There probably will always be enough customers to make it worthwhile for a few to stay open outside of usual hours.

Like if pubs were allowed open 24hrs tomorrow many would close at the times they already do, or extend just a little later. Its stupid that the government still apparently presume all people work 9-5.

I have to say I'm a bit bemused by the location on Kill Avenue, not the easiest place to get to after-hours.

Strange location alright, I'm in walking distance of it though!
Would of thought something like this would do better somewhere close to the city?

I'd love to see a 24 coffee/food joint like Dennys tbh.

    I don't think it's a bad location, 5 mins off N11 and on the 46a bus route...

If it has a decent set-up and not just "fitness" style machines I will probs join. Literally live 5 minutes away from it and it would be handy with my working hours, also 30 quid a month is decent value...

I'm only 5 mins away also. Hopefully it will be a good gym, I may as well check it out.

When ever I feel like exercise I usually just lie down til the feeling goes away.

Is there any word on were the other gyms will be opening?

I love the idea of a 24hr gym as someone who works shift hours there has been many a night were I have wished there was a gym I could go to in the early hours of the morning.

I say on the flyefit facebook page that they were thinking of making the Ranelagh one 24hrs.

Wonder if this'll go the way of Dublin's last 24 hour gym...

Doubt it, because this is part of a worldwide chain...

Went up the other day, it's pretty small and basic. Lacks a few obvious pieces of equipment such as a conventional bench press. Also doesn't have dumbbells over 40kg and only has two olympic bars. It just seems like if one was to train there at a conventional and busy time eg. 6pm, that it mite be jam packed due to it's size to member ratio. Needless to say I'm not joining for the moment. Going to stick to going Loughlinstown Gym...

had a look at Anytime Fitness on Kill Avenue. Top quality equipment, and plenty of room - equipment not packed in tight. Don't know why anyone would need more than 40kg dumbbells if they knowhow to train, unless they are into bodybuilding. At €360 a year it cheaper than Monkstown and far better quality. I'm signing up.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but does anybody use this place? I'm thinking of joining as it's closest to me and I need somewhere that I can use between 5am - 6am. Just too expensive to start putting my own gear together. Any thoughts on this place?
