C2 damage to neck

    Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help with this question. firstly I DON'T WANT MEDICAL ADVICE as I've been to my GP and had an MRI etc.

So, I've been told, after three months of shoulder pain, tight muscles, referred headaches and some numbness/ tingling in my right arm that (following an MRI) I have some 'early degeneration' of the C2 joint. All else was normal and they could spot no nerve being compressed. I'm 40 and the headaches are difficult but I am managing them pretty well. I see a very good physio and am seeing a good chiropractor (having been to chiropractors that were not so good in the past) I'm wondering if anyone out there had a similar injury and could tell me about how they managed it - chiropractor etc. I am not seeking a diagnosis but am interested in the management of this.

Did it take long to heal? Did you stop all activity? Did you seek physic. Any help would be great...
Mod: I hope this does not contravene any rule - I'm looking for feedback - not advice.:)

    Thanks

    Hi Mayboy,

I've had a similar problem to you for the last 4 years. I've seen many GPs, consultants, physios, acupuncturists, have had dry needling etc. I've had steroid injections and PRFs, and tried every medication on the market. I thought my physios were good also until months and then years passed and I still was not getting any better. Now I just want the money I wasted on them back!
Finally I have found a program that is giving me my life back. It's a rehabilitation programme run by www.dbc.ie physio's . What is important to understand here is that this is not your typical physio. It is a program brought in from Finland but run by Irish physio's. (Finland is years ahead of Ireland in the medical field) It is NOT a matter of lying on a table, getting a light massage and been told to do stretches you could find on the Internet yourself! What they have is special equipment to specifically target the injured area. Instead of me writing an essay as to how this works I recommend you just check out their website and YouTube videos. They have centres in UCD, Crumlin and Nass.

I highly recommend them as as mentioned, after 4 years of chronic pain similar to your own I am now 6 weeks into my rehabilitation programme and for once I feel I am on the road to recovery.

I am convinced that my injuries stem from computer use. Along my journey I have also equipped my office out with complete ergonomic equipment and now use voice recognition technology to type and navigate my way around the web.

    I hope this helps.

Hi there, Thank you so much for this. It was really helpful. So I went to see the DBC guys - not as super professional as I thought they would be but they do know their stuff. I have a return appt soon. In the meantime I've had one session of dry needling today with a new physio so we'll see how that goes. Thanks for taking the time to reply - hopefully I'll have a better report soon!
