    Hi All,

If anyone is interested I have set up a league exclusively for A/R/T. If you want to join go to Fantasy Premier League and use the following code - 1579367-356965.

It costs nothing, there are no prizes, but, it should be a bit of fun.... I think briantherunner set one up in the 2011/2012 season but don't think there was one last year.

Get yourself set-up quickly as the season starts this coming weekend!

    digger

I only started back playing this last year after a few years off, so I'll be hoping for mid-table respectability at most. I do have a track record though - I won the Irish Indo's first ever Fantasy Football competition back in '94. Well, it was the first Premier League one, they ran one for USA 94 which was very popular so they went for the real thing after that. Back in my day you could only do one transfer per season, when men were men and there was none of this wildcard rubbish!

Hope nobody minds an unfamiliar name joining! I've been lurking here for a few weeks and I can never resist joining a fantasy league. :)

ha ha no way I was only telling digger about this earlier today. Those were the days when you had to dial your selection in to a premium phone number :)

I was in the top 10 of that indo one for most of the season but fell off with a few weeks to go. How much did you win for that?

My Mother went mental at a phone bill she got when I was a teenager, it was about 5 times higher than usual, I managed to convince her that I had been calling a service with Liverpool FC transfer speculation.... She bought it..Sucker! ;):D

I won £10,000, and I was only just gone 17! My brothers all had teams in it as well though and we'd struck a deal to split the prize if anyone won (at my suggestion :o), so I got 4 and they got 2 each. I timed my run to perfection, I crept into the top 20 about half way through moved up steadily and ended up only going ahead with one week to go - and I won by 1 point. The one transfer I did was to get rid of Stefan Schwarz and get in Brian Roy who got me that one extra point so it was a stroke of managerial genius! :D

I won our FFL in work 2 years back - won it by 1 point as well - the 1 point that I won by was due to Ageuro taking off his shirt after scoring the injury time goal that won city the league.
He was booked for taking his shirt off - causing the guy who was winning to be docked!!

    Only won €150 though.

In the past I'd spend a good couple of hours selecting and mulling over my team. Today I pressed auto fill and it gave me a decent enough team. Made 2 minor changes. Will still come last regardless :)

best team name goes to Blockic anyway.....

It's all looking a bit macho round here, you need some females to keep you on the straight and narrow... so I'm in :pac:

Just tried to join my work league and apparently it is full! There was me thinking waiting a few days before the start of the season to set up my team would be a wise strategy.

Oh well, the A/R/T league is a more than adequate substitute :pac:

Not having Van Persie already looks like a mistake. Figured I'd get him in after the first 2 games as they looked hard :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,141 ✭✭✭tombliboo83

Kevin Nolan looks like another solid midfield signing! Not signing v persie looks very risky already.

Mignolet, Coleman, Van Persie as Captain. Not a bad start

Having RVP is so 2011/2012 ;)....... That said, I didn't have him at all last year due to my total boycott of all Man Ure players. Planning on the same this year but RVP just keeps banging them in!!

I'd just like to point out that claralara is ahead of meno at this point......

Can I take a moment to revel in the fact that for the first (and last) time ever, I have a better result than Belcarra, Meno and Blockic :pac:

I'm happy enough with how things went, but it's always a pain when two of your three subs are used, and the one who wasn't got 11 points! Oh well. Didn't get in RVP either but I just couldn't bring myself to have any scum in my team, especially for £14m. I'm not going to start regretting that yet.

What a first week, I know we had Chelski and Villa with two games but the scoring was very high. Robs Rockets lead the way with 97 points followed closely by The Maradomos with 95, Bunch of Gowls with 94 and The Officer's Eleven and Pistol's Dream Team with 91 each.

Another point to note is that menoscemo with 63 points has no women beneath him...... Nothing new there! ;)

My bro-in-law did the same last year and it worked out pretty well for him. it makes sense in a way because there hasn't been any real change in the value of the players yet so you're not losing out on the transfer market like you could later in the season. Having said that, I'll be hanging on to mine until the wheels inevitably come off later in the season. You made a solid enough start though?

I read somewhere else that 3 out of the top 5, including the winner, wildcarded Week1 last year so I've followed that strategy this time. Last year I didn't use it till April and it was a waste. GW1 didn't work out as the way I wanted, I was expecting 100+ points as I loaded up on obvious choices as I new I'd be wildcarding. Not to worry. I've promised myself not to get worked up about FF this year :pac:
