    Tee Time 09.40AM-10.50AM

Couple of things to note folks :

    Cost for Members €30

    Cost for Visitors €45

The course cost on a saturday is €40 + the usual €5 in the prize kitty means members are being subsidised to the tune of €15 for this outing .

I am waiting on word back but nearly 100% sure there will be food available at the course , we would really like everyone to stay for the prize presentation.
    • We will only be going out in 3 Balls to speed things up
    • We will be playing in the order of the GOTY rankings with the top groupings going out first , to facilitate this we ask that everyone is there for at least 9.20AM
    • The time sheet will be done up when we have confirmation on player numbers
    • We really really would like folks to hang about afterwards for the prize giving and the unveiling of the Ryder Jug team and Captains picks for the event.

It would be some feat to win GOTY with only 4 counting events!!!

And It's definitely my turn to bring Charlie so I will definitely be there on time ;)

Are we presenting the goty price at this?

Oh and although it is not my favourite course I am in.

Are we presenting the goty price at this?

    Hi John,

If you have it and are there in person it would be great to be able to present it.

The plan is for two of the committee to go out in the first group and as people are coming in to have them come straight to us with their cards and we'll go through them to avoid mistakes etc.... and that way we will have a running update as scores come in, should add to the excitement.

I'll be there. It should be a cracker of a day. Miracles will be required to try and take the GOTY off Ben1977 though...

as the points are based on Fed Ex cup system, I was wondering does / should the Captains prize qualify as our "Major" with a slightly higher points structure than a regular event?

    http://www.pgatour.com/fedexcup/fedexcup-overview.html

Could make things even more interesting at the top....

Maybe something to consider for future seasons, I think it may be a bit late and unfair really if we were to do that now.

Actually originally I had mentioned resetting all points for the last event as they do in the "Tour Championship" so that theoretically anyone in the Top 30(We have 34 members) would have a chance of winning.

Thanks Stevieob, as if it wasn't hard enough fending off 6 or 7 lads, you want to send the while 34 after me!!!

You have to admit though. The idea of the Captains being a major with extra points on offer is a good one ;)

My understanding was that the current structure was intended to incentivise people to turn up to as many events as possible. Introduction of a system whereby the Captains Prize has a much higher points structure than regular events wouldn't meet that test.

However having a slightly higher points structure for the Captains could be worth consideration next year.

Sounds good alright, actually would increase the interest for a lot more people, especially with the Ryder jug spots up for grabs.

I'm not speaking for the committee but I'm against having any points awarded for the captains day. It should be a stand alone event.

This year is fine due to the cancellation of one event.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,736 ✭✭✭ssbob

Lets cut the talk of the points system for now, we can always look at this in more detail once the season is over.

For now lets just harrass Ben, Ballyk and Ricky......

Good news for ye though is that Paulos has declined on teamer for now......

    Yep agreed ,

There will be a feedback thread on the society after the final event of the year so we can fine tune things for next year !

So Im off 19 in the next outing , lubbely jubbely ,

Is there talk of some ESR cuts after some smashing scoring on a tough Thurles course , might leave me in with a chance to sneak the GOTY :D:pac::pac::D

Im gunning for the win in Palmerstown House , Im sitting in the long grass and a win will leave me in the mix , soooooooooooooooo looking forward to this !

There will be many scouting mission's done seems my aul Pal Kkelliher is now a member of the course ;)

Due to work, holidays & clashes with my own society I've only managed to make it to one outing this year lads. Is it still ok to play the captains day ?

Just wanted to check before I confirm on the text

A LOT of water on that course!

I presume we'll be off society tees? 3 of those 4 par 5's are definitely going to be on in 2 if so! :D

The 16th looks like it might be suicide to even attempt to go for it in 2.... by anyone!

Really nice par 5s. Real risk and reward holes. On the 1st par 5 its only an iron off the front tees. The 9th is all up hill. 14th and 16th not really worth the risk.

The course was in great shape for scoring last saturday with 22 points on front nine and 13 on back (off 19) and i must have left at least another 6/7 on the course

You would need to have a very good drive, lots of bottle and a very accurite second to stay dry

Lads I'd say I'll be good for this one, loved the course last year when we played. Will wait until a bit closer to the time to confirm 100%.

9th can be a brute to get to in two as well. 16th a real tough approach after I dunked 2 in the water the last day!

I'll hang on after for sure, once I'm not waiting an hour for the next group to come in that is. ;)

A lot of water, but I think it looks more intimidating on the course guide than how it actually plays in reality.
Don't get me wrong, it's still there, just not as scary as that guide :)

I'm not sure what tees we played off last year, I think it was the Bronze (A real Celtic tiger course :) Gold, Silver and Bronze tees, with Ladies off the Black) at 6,468 yards!
They look more like red than bronze on the course guide, some would say a lot of us (including myself there) should be off the reds more often

Count me in, it'll be my first outing after a few false starts.

Can i be paired with my "life partner" ajcurry? Also, the later the tee time better for me, as i'll be driving up from the sticks.

So we have found a course that suits the big hitters who cant chip or putt.

    Loving this ;-)

    Good to go on this.

How do you determine that, I think going at any of those greens is frought with danger......just look at the bunkering on 9!

Joking, no such course. My own short game is muck, so will be like Rocky over next month. Running on beach and everything this morning.

Bit harsh on the course, depending on how you drive you may end up laying up and chipping
