I just want to give a big nod of appreciation and thanks to fergal for all of his input on the forum. He answers almost every question posted, very often with pictures and is happy to share his great wealth of knowledge with all and sundry, despite seeming to be constantly busy building boats!

His ability is without question and his willingness to help is much appreciated by all I'm sure, so, just putting it on the record.

Thanks fergal and keep up the good work!

Yes indeed. While I'm one of those people who believe injins in boats, and, worser still, injins in plastic boats, are a sin, Fergal finds the time to build and finish really nice hulls, out of wooden wood, write good advice for boating boardies (in a non-AH manner) on a huge variety of boating topics and see to his domestic duties. A remarkable chap!

Now Fergal, dump the injins and get yourself a nice suit of sails and two long sticks.

I think he is over rated :)

Only joking. The forum would be a much poorer place without him!

Plus I know I can hit him up for Merc advice if I ever need it (also a mercury fan).

Cheers Fergal for all the effort

Thank you Girls/Guy's it's a pleasure to help anyone get out on the water and discover the true beauty that Ireland has to offer without breaking the bank.
Boats are for everyone and no mater how big or small it is you are still part of the lucky community thats gets to see parts of Ireland and it's wildlife that are hidden to the rest of the world, I had a guy out with me the other day and he was shocked to see a cormorant as he had never seen one before and thought they only live in China, then a gannet swooped down on us and he thought we were being attacked by a prehistoric monster :D needless to say he now wants to get a boat and do a bit more discovering of this strange and wonderful world we live in.

BrensBenz I have done an outboard and an inboard so I guess all that's left to challenge me is a sail boat and I do like the look of the Dragon day-sailer "in wood" so maybe when I get over my midlife crisis with the V8:D I will retire building or restoring one of these ;)

Well, you're certainly starting at the top with the Dragon! She must have THE most beautiful, aristocratic lines of any Olympic boat.

However, she'll fill most sheds and she's not a boat for novice sailors.

I had the pleasure of working on a mahogany Dragon many years ago in Cork - even out of the water, with a stripped hull, she was jaw-droppingly lovely. So, if you ever find yourself with a Dragon, (and provided my 1958 mahogany National 18 doesn't need work at the same time,) I would "almost" pay you to allow me to assist with the refubishment of a Dragon. I have my own bucket and sanding block and I can find my way to Baluddery.

    I did say "almost", right?
