Seems like Walt can't switch off his hunger for an empire, even a carwash empire.

He's going to win, the cancer won't kill him, he'll go down fighting without a doubt!

    So the cancers back??

Yeah, Vince Gilligan said previously that he wanted to return to that, as that was the catalyst for it all.

Notice Walt putting a towel under his knees when vomiting, another trait he's taken from someone he killed, Gus.

He wasn't sure, but his guilty conscience is making him paranoid. IMO, of course. :)

How long have we waited for that confrontation? Roll on next week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,681 ✭✭✭✭P_1

The sympathetic side to WW is surely dead and gone now after that episode. Classic stuff

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,709 ✭✭✭shrewdness

Holy sh!t, I didn't expect that confrontation so early, though I suppose it is a short season. The next 7 episodes are gonna be unreal!

    TREAD LIGHTLY

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,850 ✭✭✭FouxDaFaFa

I was surprised they had Hank and Walt hash things out in the open so soon but god, it was great television.

Dean Norris knocked it out of the park with that one. Hank looked so hurt as well as angry.

I actually gasped when Walt turned a sentence I thought was going to be some kind of apology, some kind of remorse, into a threat.

    "Tread lightly". WTF, Walt.

He looked for the book, asked about Hank and the next thing he is checking his car for a GPS so I think he did realise very quickly that he had the book

There's a link in another thread. Can't remember them all, but he cut the crusts off his sandwiches like Krazy 8 after he killed him. After he killed Mike he took his drink like Mike did, on the rocks. A couple others that I can't remember. I can't claim to have made that spot about the towel myself, seen it on twitter during a break!

"Tread lightly", get line, great ending. Seriously good way to open the season, loved it. Someone wake me up at the same time next week.

    WOAH...

Everything really bubbled to the surface in that moment, didn't it? A year of **** caused all by the man who was under his nose the entire time.

Just imagine being in Hank's shoes...

I'd always wondered just in what way it would all go down when he finally had nothing to hold back to Walt anymore.

    Here's to next week...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,850 ✭✭✭FouxDaFaFa

Walt has become such a despicable man.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,305 ✭✭✭April O Neill

Stroke of genius having the confrontation happens so soon. It has completely changed the dynamic between Walt and Hank for the remaining episodes. If the confrontation had happened later, what came after would probably have been more rushed and cliched. Plus, I don't think anyone expected it. Great stuff.

    Hello Carol!

So good to see this show back again.

Walt is gone, Heisenberg has taken over. There isn't a shred of empathy or compassion in him and it's made clear by his "Thread lightly" quote which really came out of nowhere.

Was not expecting the confrontation that quick, was expecting Walt to go Hank's place to try and suss things out, leave, and then the remaining episodes would go through the motions and be like some sort of psychological game between the two of them.

Have waited a year for this episode, now next week's feels a century away :pac:

Seeing HEISENBERG written in the house in the flashforward gave me goosebumps

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,031 ✭✭✭we'llallhavetea

what a brilliant return to breaking bad, no pussy footing about, straight to it with hank and Walt! I second that dean Norris pulled off that scene perfectly.

the glimpse of what's to come with the house in ruins, the name Heisenberg scrawled across the wall, poor carol having a sh!t haemorrhage when she sees him! everyone knows so how the hell is he walking about with a boot load of guns!
I thought I could wait for netflix tomorrow, so glad I didn't :)

Fantastic stuff. In an instant - the garage door closing - the whole dynamic of this series has altered from what most thought it would be (i.e. an element of cat and mouse - at least for a while). The quality of the acting is something else with so much being conveyed by so little. To those who would nit-pick about how Walt became suspicious of Hank's suspicions (excuse the repetition), whilst I understand where you're coming from, if any show has earned the right to have us trust in the characters and accept their actions as being character-driven its BB. I cannot wait until next week to see where it goes from here.

I think there was a post earlier about Walt acquiring the characteristics of those he has killed or had a hand in killing. Surely the most obvious throwback in this episode to that aspect of the show was Walt's dealings with Lydia in the carwash, which was almost a carbon copy of Walt's encounters with Gus in Los Pollos Harmanos.
