    Hi folks,

Recently bought a Polar FT7 and love it.
I've left it running while I'm lying in bed resting and calculated that I burn 72 cals/hour while at rest.
My question is, when tracking my calories in vs calories out for the day, if I worked out for an hour and burned, say, 500 calories, do I need to subtract my RMR from that to calculate the net calories the workout burned off?

    Yes.
You need to discount resting calories from total calories to get an idea of what the exercise actually burns.

But trying to track your whole day/week/etc with a HMR is a lot of work, and unnecessary.

Thanks for your reply. I only track myself when walking a decent distance or working out :)
    Cheers!
