    eldest lad was telling me yesterday a hen can turn into a cock:eek: is this true? i am assuming it just takes on the characteristics of a cock:confused::confused:

    They don't "turn" into cocks but they can start to crow and become more dominant.

    Yup, my bossy hen has started crowing in the mornings.
    She most definately is still a hen though.
    Im hoping the neighbours dont start to get cheesed off with her noise.
    Then again, she's nowhere near as annoying as all the barking dogs i can hear from gardens near and far, all day and night!

    Its hard to sex a chicken, so people often have what they think (hope?!) are hens, and they turn out to be cockerals ... maybe thats what your son is thinking about!
