    Ahhhh.....

Was hoping you might set the scene a little more..... I'd say all your short is going your press confrences starkers in a see through rain coat at this stage!! :p

    Seek, and ye shall find!!

While leaving the Athletic Club's training ground this evening their manager Hercule Poirot was asked if he would put himself forward for the vacant Real Madrid position. Dressed head to toe in what appeared to be black bin bags and wearing a "I voted for Qatar 2022" baseball cap, he gave the following response:

"The Madrid job is a highly coveted position and I have given much thought about whether or not I would apply - however, I was informed this morning that the Madrid chairman would not allow me to take part in any press conferences. So, in short, my response is "Bollox to the lot of them!"

    M. Poirot then climbed into the back of a pink limousine after which sniffing noises and high pitched giggling could be heard before the limo drove away.

    Who?

    :pac: Funny you should ask....

I know you're going nowhere, so take this as a compliment; I reckon you've by far got the best first 11 in the game and it would be the only team to tempt me at the moment.

By now, I think most teams have had their marks put on them by their managers and the game world has advanced so far that I don't think I'd leave Spurs for them. But your Barca is just so overwhelming in its first 11. De Gea, Ronaldo, Rooney, Messi, Bale, Alba, Marchiso, Pizchek...you've assembled an absolute beast of a first 11. Probably one of the best I've seen in any game world I've played. :)

Can I apply for Real Madrid??...

I know my manager rating is low now but look at the success I brought them..

Personally manager rating should be bypassed as I managed them before and I'm amazing..

Also because I've took the time out to come on this while in Portugal.. I should 100% be getting them...

    :o

Cheers pal. I'm genuinely excited at getting this season going now. de Gea is the weakest link in my preferred first XI at 91, but there is no way he is going to stay at that level for long I reckon.
I've moved on Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Valdes and Alves but when you consider by doing that (and quite a few more leaving too) I've been able to get Ronaldo, Bale, Rooney, Marchisio, de Gea and a few more too, I'm delighted with the players I have. Though I'm still considering one more change..... :)

Keeping some of the reserves happy is going to be a challenge I suppose, but it's a problem I'd rather have than not.

    _____

Also, Bayern Munich tonight in Monaco in the Super Cup, going all out to retain another European trophy, but am up against a hell of a team too - should be a cracker!

Sources close to Real Madrid suggest that the Spanish giants have made a final decision on who they want to fill their vacant managerial role. Apparently, the Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, is already on his way to Schalke in the hope of poaching their manager Burlap_Sack in person. However, when questioned, a spokesperson of FC Schalke has stated that no formal communications have been received from the current league champions, and that they remain adamant that Burlap_Sack will be in charge at the Veltins Arena for the coming season.

    Breaking News :

Sources close to Argentinian club Estudiantes are reporting that their manager, Wilberto, may be on the verge of stepping down as manager with just one game played in the new season. The rumours have come about after delegates from the German club, FC Schalke, were spotted leaving the same Turkish hotel that the Estudiantes team are staying after their opening league game with Galatasaray. However, both Estudiantes and Wilberto himself have yet to release an official statement although no formal communications between the two clubs have, as of yet, been reported.

The news, however, should come as no real surprise for Estudiantes supporters, as the intentions of Wilberto of moving back to Europe have been well documented for quite some time and, considering the successful season they have had last season, it is quite possible that their much loved manager feels as if he has taken the team as far as they can go.

While there may still be many twists and turns in this story, one thing is certain, supporters of Estudiantes will be hoping that they can hold onto their manager for quite some time yet.

All that power and you forgot to fiddle the time of the deadline to make it a done deal ... :p

Am I right in saying you havent applied for some of the bigger team in the past? Schalke hold a special place in your footballing heart?

I've been mulling over applying for Schalke as I'm a big fan but I'd say Wilberto has me beat but sure I'll apply anyway.

I can see why Schalke are attracting some of the more 'attached' managers, cracking squad they have in fairness

I'm quite surprised I'm ahead considering The Governors fantastic season last season with Bremen.

Rather ironically though, if we were using the system that was suggested by myself, he'd be ahead of me!

Yup. This is the first time I've ever applied for another job. To be honest, I'm kind of half disillusioned with things at Estudiantes. I've know I've built a nice little squad andput my own stamp on the team but, alas, all good things must come to an end and all that.

Also, I'm finding it almost impossible to get my rating up. I feel as if I need to win about 20 games to climb one place in the rankings, yet, if I lose, I'll fall about 20 places! I just think it's time for a change. That, and I genuinely want to take a club in Europe as well.

Also, on feeling close Shalke, I suppose I do have a couple of their jerseys so does that count?? :D :P

Nope, just looks like he's quit the game. He quit Everton in the other league he was in too.

No he was only around 20 or so. Probably just doesn't have the time with RL. Best of luck to the fella anway.

It was a long long night for supporters of Estudiantes who still had no clue as to what the outcome would be over their managers future. By morning time, all they had come to know was that they were going to have to wait another bit longer. However, when the chairmen called an emergency press conference for four o'clock, fans began to feel the worst. "Was this really happening?" and "Has he finally been tempted from us?" were the typical sentiments across the supporters network. All they could do though, was wait. Wait another several hours for what could be sheer jubilation, or utter devastation.

    One hour before the press conference and the conference hall at the Estadio Único was already packed with with the local and national media alike eagerly awaiting the most anticipated press conference held by Estudiantes since the appointment of Wilberto over one calender year ago. Finally, at approximately 4:15pm, the President of Estudiantes, Enrique Lombardi, walked in and followed by the main man in question. After both had taken their seats, and the photographers settled down, Enrique gave broke the news to a tensely silent crowd;

"After a long discussion with Wilberto, by which I mean trying to convince him to stay, I think we have both come to the conclusion that it's best if he moves on to pastures new. I think we can all agree that he made a vital contribution to this club, bringing us to a play-off final last season against all odds but, in light of the continued interest in him from other clubs, it is only right to allow him to leave and I, for one, will not stand in his way. On behalf of everyone here at Estudiantes, I would just like the profoundly acknowledge the monumental achievements you've accomplished at this club and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that we are forever indebted to you."

    After the Presidents rather emotive speech, followed by a rapturous applause, Wilberto himself stood up and gave a brief farewell speech;

"First of all, thank you Enrique for those kind words. It has been a privilege and an honour to manage this great great Argentine club. It is of course always sad to leave a place that's so close to your heart but, in truth, sometimes a manager can just outstay his welcome. I've brought this club to a top five finish. I've assembled a nice youngish squad for my replacement to take charge of. I honestly think now that, if I was to stay on, it could cause more harm than good. I know it may be hard for some people to see considering our achievements last year but what this club needs is a change of leadership. Someone with new and fresh ideas. I wanted to leave this great club in a better place than it was when I took over, and I certainly believe that I have done that. Thank you all at this fine club for making my lengthy stay a most enjoyable and memorable one."

And with that, the press conference concluded with a prolonged standing ovation after which Wilberto disappeared behind the closed doors, and left the Estadio Único for the last time in a limousine, paid in full by the players as a token of their appreciation, and headed straight for the airport.

When confronted by journalists while entering his appartment building in Lisbon, Benfica manager José Seaninho had this to say about rumours that he was in talks to return to the other side of the city following the sacking of Cian Baker.

"Everyone knows that sporting have a special place in my heart, they are a special club to me and I am special to them. I signed all of their first team.
I won the league with them, we went 27 games unbeaten, I have a good relationship with everyone in the squad, it is my squad. Will I be the manager of Sporting again, I don't know, anything can happen.
I am happy in Benfica, Lisbon is my city and which club I manage isn't important, what is important is that I make the decision which is best for me, Sporting and Benfica. I love both clubs and both sets of fans and I don't want to let anyone down. This is a very hard decision and one I cannot make lightly."

It's believed that Seainho will hold talks with the chairmen of both Benfica and Sporting tonight in an effort to decide his future.
