been hitting the gym the last four or 5 years and I would keep pretty fit but i have a line of fat at the end of my stomach which i cant seem to move and have some fat on my chest too which i would like to get rid of. I have a flat stomach until the end where the fat is so i am looking to change my diet to rectify this. I probably eat alot of carbs - pasta, bread and potatoes.

    Oatcakes are still carbs.

Keep your diet exactly as it is but reduce your carbs by say 30 (2slices of bread)and increase cardio by 20 mins a session . Then when you stop losing weight do the same again. And again .

What are you doing with the bread?

You could simply replace the bread with a plate and eat more of what used to be the filling. If you want to reduce carbs, there's no point in substituting other carbs in.

Some novel ideas would be instead of having a cheese sambo, use roast beef slices as the bread. Tell me that's not delicious, I dare you.

    Lettuce leaves.

    Use them to make wraps.

Or just take what you'd put in a sandwich into a salad...

    Iceberg lettuce leaves as above.

Instead of burgers I will fry up loose mince, and dump it in a bowl of torn up iceberg lettuce leaves, and put on cheese, ketchup, mayo, gherkins, onions all my usual burger fillings. It also allows you to easily use different ratios, e.g. loads of gherkins which would be falling out of a regular burger.

Burger buns often has as many calories as the pattie itself, especially those extra large burger rolls that are more common now.

As for other carbs, instead of rice some make "cauliflower rice" which is like grated cauliflower cooked just a little.

I think you need to pick a goal first . You wont loose bodyfat and put on weight at the same time .

You won't reduce fat from just one area either.

Lower your carb intake for day and higher your protein, fast walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes 4 days a week,if you keep your protein and amino acids high you will only burn off the fat not the muscle.

    A Knife and Fork?

You could sub the carbs for some extra Salad/Veggies or meat if you don't want to eat so much bread.

Do yourself a favour and read this thread on bodybuilding.com

You need to work out your maintenance calories and divide them into macros by following the recommended guidelines. Then monitor your weight for 2 weeks and if it hasnt moved up or diwn then you will have found maintenance. Then simply reduce calories to lose and increase calories to gain. Its best to go slow and if there is a plateau, simply reduce or increase by 200 calories. Rinse and repeat.

Wrigleys just did you a great favour with that link it has practically everything you will need in it . It may be a bit daunting at first but once you get the hang of proper dieting with proper macros for your goal your rrsults will be 10x better .
