You'll probably find something a lot better secondhand on adverts or done deal etc - i would look there first.

The problem with the sets you have linked is that you'll outgrow them in no time, and adding weight to them will be problematic (not enough room, low max load etc).

Its easy enough to sell them on when you outgrow them and upgrade, saves you forking out a lot at the start.

    check out this site http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk

i'm pricing up a bench, Olympic BB and DB set for myself.

€810 if i bought equipment from Irish suppliers, €625 (that's including postage) if I bought near enough same equipment from UK.

Given how quickly you'd outgrow it it just seems like an awful lot of faffing about waiting around for it to be sold so soon after getting it. I agree with you, if you're gonna buy then buy 2nd hand on done deal, gum tree, adverts etc. Still think finding the motivation to go to the gym would ultimately be a better investment.

For about the same price you can get this package http://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk/deluxe-strength-package.php which would give you more options.

That first bench apparently can take up to 136kg on the bench support itself with a separate user weight of 100kg. The second supports 120kg (both according to argos q+a). Argos q+a is absolutely terrible though but anecdotal reports indicate 80-90kgs is handled fine. Depending on the user that might last a while - it also might be a relatively small investment to see if its something you are going to continue.

Both those sets come with vinyl weights though, which are not much good.

Going to the gym is all good and well for some, doesn't work for others :)
