    Hi

I had Netflix about 1 x year ago but ended up dropping my subs after 2 x months due to fact that there was nothing decent on it.

I got a recent email asking me to try another FREE month... but has it got any better???

Are we in Ireland still getting short-changed as against the US version...

It's handy to just throw something on while you're in bed.Nothing great, but worth it for the convenience.

U sure its offering another free month?
I was the same as yourself, but have since gotten emails just to resign up at same cost!

It's crap for films, but I have gotten into a good few TV shows that I'd probably never have known about if not for them. I wouldn't pay much more than what they charge at the moment though.

Is it done by IP, or do you have to spoof an American billing address?

All I do is use a new card every month. I've gotten 4 months free netflix now exploiting that new member offer!

Get it then just use a VPN to get access to the American/Canadian/Brazillian netflix. They have the best movies.

IP and even then it's still not worth it imo. Even if it was free I don't think Id use it anymore.

Ip, there is a chrome extension for it so I'm assuming one exists for Firefox too

    Of course you should OP.

    Its got Sharpe on it!

I like it to find new (to me) shows, but know that they're not up-to-date. I've come across the rare film or too that I've really enjoyed that I probably would never have watched otherwise. As I said, for 7 quid it's just about worth it for me.

Ta - I use a WDTV Live though, so I think I'd need to do something at the router level.

Decent service so long as you aren't expecting brand new releases on it.

I'm getting it back for the last eight episodes of Breaking Bad then dumping it again when its finished.

Yeah there's a chrome extension that let's you use the American version. It's so much better then the UK and Ireland version. We get ripped off tbh!

Use Mediahint for netflix us. Its free and its an app on google chrome. Its more reliable than a VPN.

Also orange is the new black is ****ing amazing. Also is house of cards. Plus there is a ton of decent tv shows and movies on US netflix.

    Its free, take it

They will! The new episodes will be available the day after they air in the US starting on Monday 12th August.

That's what I like about Netflix. You can renew membership for a month then cancel straight away after you renew so once the month is up, your membership ends. They make it very easy.

I've let membership lapse a good few times, then renewed the odd month to watch something, then cancelled again straight away.

    How do you get that?

I dunno, it costs me ~0.23c a day, and I've watched a lot of stuff on it.

6.99 a month... just a couple euro more than the price of a pint in the pub. I know which I'd prefer TBH.

    Oh my God, sweet!!!!!!

    :)

I know! I only started watching it from the beginning on netflix a few weeks ago and got totally addicted. Racing to finish the first half of season 5 before Monday now.

And yes we get the UK one :)

Netflix was where I started watching it about a year ago, as I hate watching crappy quality downloads. BB has great cinematography so deserves to be watched in high quality. I absolutely bombed through it.

It was airing on TG4 around the time I started watching, but I loved that I could watch a marathon whenever I wanted.

Why is the US version so much better than Uk version?

There's a whole load of films on the US version that I never even heard of. Apart from the TV shows, is there anything else that's better?

no , i took up the 2nd free month and stopped using it after 3 days , still ****e selection.

does not do anything for me

Licencing. Sky may own exclusive rights to air it here so netflix cant have it but in the US netflix does. For example Netflix is the main broadcaster of breaking bad in the UK while in the US it will be on TV before they get the rights to it.

    https://mediahint.com/

Gets you the US netflix. I find it is worth it to have both. Wish I could get an easy way to connec to to other countries netflix. Everyone seems to be trying to get the US version. Netflix dont seem to care, they do the minimum to prevent you watching outside of your own country probably because they know it gets them more business.

Why not if its free for a month. Just set a reminder on your phone to cancel after 30 days. I definitely think its worth the 6.99 a month. Not so much the movies I only watch the odd one here and there. But they have crap loads of series that I like. Buffy, vampire diaries, hemlock grove. Besides the husband watches absolute ****e (imo) on the tv so I need an alternative until he falls asleep :-)

The us one has some movies that are in the new releases in xtravision, pretty decent for 7 quid a month, i watch it trough the xbox, go in to system settings and change the dns settings, the settings im using are,
    primary dns: 190.14.36.90
    secondary dns: 109.123.111.24
im pretty sure its the same for the playstation.

XBMC - Xbox Media Center is software which you can install on a range of devices; original Xbox (modded), your PC, iPad(jailbroken) etc there are add-ons in XBMC which allow you to stream content, 1Channel is one such add-on. There's a few others IceFilms, Navi-X but 1Channel is the best.

Just sign up and watch it using Chrome and download the Hola Unblocker and you'll get the american version.

it takes about a minute to do

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,231 ✭✭✭✭B.A._Baracus

Why wouldnt anyone accept a free months trial of netflix?

People are buying boxsets of their favourite tv shows. Which is madness considering how much they go for. Why not go with netflix. Be it free trial or sub. You get the opportunity to watch so much more to.

And it isn't hard to watch other netflix regions. Even record what you watch for back catalog.

Nah it's simply pathetic given it's a whopping seven quid a month!

I use it so I don't have to pay for Sky etc, but I download too.

Have access to the American one. Definitely worth it. Tons of great documentaries on it.

I know, right? Little more than the cost of a pint. It's for nothing!

That said, if Netflix make it that easy to get so many free trials, it's hard to feel too sorry for them.

True, but maybe they thought 'who'd want to scam a paltry seven bucks (because they're American you see!) per month?!' :D

Yep, but haven't tried modding it or connecting to a different netflix yet. My one's connection is a bit dodgy at the best of times

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,122 ✭✭✭BeerWolf

Decent selection on it, just lacking updates though - only a handful of things are added every month, and numerous series on it are missing entire seasons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,404 ✭✭✭Lone Stone

I still sub to it, but i found the irish one awfull the American netflix has a much better selection if i wasnt able to get that i would see no point in using it.
