Is there any harm adding a raw egg to a whey protein shake?

    yeah.

The two proteins will cancel each other out.

    and youll get fat.

    Seriously though - no.

Not unless youre allergic to eggs

Thanks. So if anything it'll obviously increase the protein content in my shake?

    Have you tried this yet??

Can't imagine the egg will make mixing the powder and water too easy?

Or it could have zero effect.

Let me know how it goes

Makes no difference to the taste so far

or just use 10g more of protein powder, or cook the egg and have it separate.

Seems like a gross way of adding 7g of protein.

Gross in what way? I make my shake in a blender with porridge oats also. There isn't any difference taste wise with the egg in it.
Adding an extra scoop of powder is an expensive way of doing it when eggs are so cheap

if you dont notice the egg then fair enough.

isn't powder cheaper than eggs for protein? unless you get really cheap eggs, or expensive powder.
5kg bag being €50 and having 4kg of protein.
18 eggs is around €3 iirc. and having 126g of protein.

Powder is pretty much the cheapest source of protein.

But of course, eggs have more than protein so may be more beneficial to use the egg instead of the extra powder.

    No.

    18 eggs= €2.85* = 126g of protein = €2.25 per 100g of protein.
    5kg flavoured whey protein**= €71 = 4100g of protein = €1.75 per 100g of protein.

    * Eggs may be cheaper elsewhere.
    **€1.40 if you use unflavoured.

    Also factor in bioavailability etc...

I'd suggest just throw in an extra egg when you're making your eggs? or taking that extra bit of whey?

Ah.. fire away but why not cook an extra egg when you are cooking them instead of throwing a raw one in?

I do my workout in the mornings at 7 so I want to get the most protein from my meal after it

Using raw eggs means you only absorb around 50% of available protein in comparison to cooking. See here for example http://m.jn.nutrition.org/content/128/10/1716.full
