Compound Bows - Purchase Criteria?

    Hi,

I own some recurve bows and a couple of longbows but I've never owned or shot a compound bow. I'm curious and I was thinking of investing in one (a lefty) but I'm a little at sea as to what to look for.

There seem to be many going second hand but how do you set the draw length? I can 'roughly' tune a recurve but a compound? I shoot with a bunch of lads but none have any idea what to do with a compound.

I don't want to spend a fortune buying something that sits in the corner for a decade. I'd like to buy one used that I can shoot for fun to see what they're all about. Is there anyone out there that can set the draw length on a compound for me and set it up for a reasonable cost? What do I need to know about them before I (mistakenly) buy one on eBay?

    Regards, James.
