    I would be in favour of a loan scheme. Have an even playing field as far as is possible. I don't think it is fair that medicine is 6 years and is fully paid for as where arts/law is only 3 years. After that you have to pay-a lot. What is grossly unfair about the medicine and nursing courses is that they are paid for and also, in college they have the opportunity to earn money for themselves by working as part of their course in a hospital.

    If not a loan scheme then certainly a set number of years that would be paid for regardless of course and then add to that by a student loan.

    The flipside of that is that the average medical graduate will pay more in tax than the arts graduate, which will account for the higher cost of educating that student.

    Only student nurses get paid for their work on the course during college, because they are essentially working as members of staff. Other health sciences do not get paid for their clinical placements.
