    Don't do shakes.
Eat a balanced diet (see nutrition sticky)
    Burn more calories by exercising

Shakes are lazy and ineffective way to do it

What are these magical shakes you speak off?

Want to lose weight then start by cutting out some of the crap you eat each day, and do some extra activity each day. And stop buying junk food, stop bringing temptation into your house.

So, I've recently started down the same path. I have being following a slow carb diet which, I have to say, has worked a treat. I'm down from 19st 10lbs to 17st 0 1/2lbs in 10 weeks. This is without any exercise for the first 8 weeks as well.

The main thrust is eat within an hour of waking. Eat 4 times a day roughly 4 hours apart.
The main difference is you need to stay off any "white" foodstuffs, ie; no bread, potatoes, rice, pasta. The carbs are replaced by beans be they kidney or pinto. Now I know what you're thinking, erkkk beans right? But it really is not too bad. Drink around 3 Ltr water a day and you will be grand. The only other odd bit is no fruit or dairy with the exception of real butter for cooking.
The good part is you get a free day every week to cheat and go nuts, which, I think, helps you get through the rest of it!

Good luck whatever you do :)

You will find the site if you search under "4 hour body" I ended up getting the book by Tim ferriss and it has been a life saver for me.
I've dropped 2 sizes since starting and have not been hungry once! In fairness it is a bit daunting at the start as you are so used to eating a different way for so long but get through the first few days and you will be fine!
