I brought my mother to NEW York for her 50th. It was a great holiday just to get away and to see family.

I stopped going when I was 16. I started going the last couple of years for my sons sake.

My parents love it, we love it. Not going this year though.

I've been on family holidays and had a good time. It all depends on how well you all get along.

I think it depends on the gender TBH. Doesn't seem strange if female, or if there's a few siblings. I don't know what possessed me but I ended up on holiday with my folks in my early 20's (male) definitely felt a "look at that mammy's boy" vibe. Looking back now, I'm glad I spent some quality time with them though... and it was free.

i used to but a fair few years ago i stopped going.

They never really want to do anything while on holidays except sit around and read a book or sit outside some fancy overpriced restaurant sipping red wine, horrible stuff by the way and it tastes the same no matter how many thousand you spend on the bottle. I dont see the point in going on holidays if you're not going to explore or use the facilities and do things you can just as easily do at home


It probably costs over 100e a day to go on holidays, better make use of it. Its as if what they want from a holiday is the exact opposite of what i want

My friend in his 30s brought his dad to Berlin to see war museums and whatnot (his dad's well interested in WWII) and said it was fantastic. I think once it's not just a hanging-around-the-place holiday it could work well.

I was 26 than nearly three years ago now. She hadn't been their in 30 years so a lot of the family had there own kids since she was there last.

We went last year and I sent her off to see a friend she worked with over 30 years ago. She lost contact with them a long time ago and the brother found her on the internet. Give her spending money and all.

Yeah, my family go on skiing holidays so it's something we all have in common and enjoy together.

Could never do the lying down on a beach day-in-day-out thing, a day or so is okay, more than that and I'd die of boredom.

It's good that you make time for your Mum, people often forget about the families of people with alzheimers. A trip away can do people a lot of good, even better when it's with other family.

All the time - my 21st present from my parents was a weekend away with my Dad. I've been on quite a few holidays with them since then with my boyfriend now husband.

We've two holidays planned with them in the next 6 months too. Really looking forward to them! Handy to have them with the baby as well for so e extra help, more of a break for us.

I haven't been on a holiday with my family since I was 10, but of the few bits I do remember I know it would be a genuinely painful experience, so no!

You'd swear I'd been raised on a different planet than them, we just have completely different ideas of not only how to have fun but also how to behave. The closest we get to having anything in common is that we're all as moody as each other, which doesn't result in good things.

My dad died when I was 16, my brothers and sisters ranged from 13 to 5 at the time. My mam managed to raise us all and put us all through college. these days she looks after my daughters while my wife and I are at work. If she doesn't come on holidays with us, I pay for her holiday. Its the least I can do.

Loads of times. We all went to France this year and had a great time, lots of sight seeing and good food. And my sister, my Mam and I alwsys do a city break in Europe before Christmas. We enjoy each other's company. Imagine that!

I stopped going on holiday with my parents when I was 17 but now that I have kids we do. We live very far apart so they tend to come on holidays here or we go there, same with the in-laws. We spend most of the time at home in each others houses but will usually get a week or so away somewhere not too far away. It's nice to be able to all spend some time together when we don't see each other that often. I couldn't see myself going away with just my folks though, although I share a hobby with my mother and we went away for a weekend workshop last year.

My friend who's in her 30's goes on holiday with her parents every year- they spend a chunk of the summer in a villa somewhere and she usually goes out for a week to get some sun and nice meals. She is chronically broke so she doesn't have an alternative. Also her folks are fairly crumbly and go to bed early so she just hits the town by herself.

Haven't been on holiday with my parents since I was 14 but now that I have kids myself, I'd like to go away with my parents/my own family while my parents are still around.

Yep, just back from 2.5 weeks in Florida with my folks, 4 sibs, 2 in-laws, 7 nieces/nephews and an aunt and a cousin.

We do a big family hol every other year or so.
