You'll need to post the exact make and model of your router.
Then we can search for "access restrictions based on MAC address".

Alternatively... unplug your router at midnight every night :-)

    Lock it in a press?

Even if you block it from the internet it can still be used for other things.

Unplug it and put the plug itself out of their reach

On the UPC router (cisco) you can create a mac filter then apply a time of day rule to it. Don’t know about the eircom one though. Log on to the router and have a look, usually under access restrictions.

The user manual for that model is here

Under the "technical reference" section, it mentions parental controls.

In the web interface under Security -> Parental Control

Personally I use OpenDNS for all my blocking,,but I don't think it has "Time Restrictions".

I done a quick search and found these..

I have never used them,or even heard of them,,so someone else may have some feedback on them.

    Hope it helps.

Thats local windows blocking, not what the OP needs.

OP as above you need to do Time of Day filtering. You probably cant do that by mac address so you'd have to it with user logins(set up on the D1000).

If there is a Bridge mode on the eircom router, you could enable it, and disable the wifi, then connect another router with more advanced controls as your wifi access point - for example a router than can run Tomato or DD-WRT

    From YLYL...

    ToS7Ykw.jpghttp:

Not ideal but you could enable another wireless network for said sneaky teenager. A lot of routers allow you to setup guest networks, not sure about the Zyxel D1000 though. You could use your phone to access router config interface, enable/disable this network as you wish. Ensure to enable an admin password on accessing config so only you can change the settings.
Or simply hide the rj-11 cable - can't imagine he has his own :)

You could buy an Apple Airport and use that for Wifi for your kid's iPod. That has settings to allow timed access by MAC address.

I have one myself, but I've not tried out the advanced controls (I bought it for use in hotels that supply free wired internet access to create a hotspot in my room; I've not had to use it at home yet. My 11 y/o has an iPad mini, but we control access to it by taking it off her!

Thanks for that info! Mine is 16. at this age its easier just to block the ipod than taking it off her,... less strops!

You could try turning on the restrictions on the Ipod. Its easy enough to do.There's info here.
It blocks stuff like internet access and using apps.
