I used to pour boiling water from a kettle over them and break them up a bit then stick them in the microwave and they turned out ok, not the beat tasting mind but still ok to eat

Boil the kettle, leave the noodles in the boiling water for 2 minutes or so (in a bowl or something, not the kettle). It'll be fine.

    Microwave the water to boiling..
    Throw in noodles.

    Be just fine..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 67 ✭✭scotchannie

yeah you can just make sure you put enough hot water in the container with the noodles... and cook for about 4 mins or so...

I read this in a Jackie Chan voice.

    Yep, you can microwave them.
Cook them without the flavor, drain the water, then add the flavor sachet & stir, brilliant for the curry noodles

Had one of these yesterday, don't use the flavouring-it's gank!

Nothing to do with the microwave...

You could also be hardcore and actually eat them straight out of the packet with the flavouring sprinkled over them. Really nice snack with a few cans.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,071 ✭✭✭✭wp_rathead

ok- are they in a tub like Pot Noodle or a plastic packet?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,101 ✭✭✭dickwod1

I microwave Koka noodles all the time (the pack not the pot)

Break the noodles up put in a bowl and add boiling water & flavor packet ... stick into the microwave for 3 mins ... stir half way ... Happy days

    :D

    They've gone horrendously expensive.

They're also horrendously bad for you.

OP, a couple of bags of crips would be a comparable lunch, nutrition-wise.

Yeah that's some seriously difficult cooking you're doing there, hydrating noodles.

Pour some boiling water over them and then cover them in tinfoil to pack in the moisture. Put the tinfoil package into a microwave for a couple of minutes.

(note: above may not be the best advice)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,071 ✭✭✭✭wp_rathead

    plastic packet

fook it. im gonna go for it. im starvin!

then just add boiling water to them in bowl, microwave for 2mins, stir, then microwave them againf or 2mins

    be graaaaand

My friend made me koka noodles when I was on holidays last year, I was quite horrified that people actually ate that crap. But then.....Ohmygod they're yummy. YUMMY.

It's like that Dyno-Rod orange ersatz cheese sauce they put on the cheese fries in Eddie Rockets. It offends me, it disgusts me, it should in no way be allowed to be classed as a foodstuff.

But my God, is it delicious :(

Actually, just in case it's not clear: Please don't do this. I don't to hear about a house burning down tomorrow after an explosion in a microwave.

Also, go to an Asian market - lots of noodle varieties out there waiting to be discovered.

noooooooooo that's wrong, wrong wrong wrong. It takes like what I would expect liquidised smelly feet to taste like.

Though I did feel like that about garlic cheese fries too and then I was drunk one night and, well you know the rest.

...remove from tinfoil and hang the noodles in a cool dry room (temperature no more than 10 degrees tops) for a couple of days.
When the 'hanging' period is complete, enter the room on tiptoe so as not to 'agitate' the noodles, before liberally seasoning the dried strips with black pepper and basil, next marinate in Cherry Brandy for ages...etc.....before eating them and boring everyone senseless whilst explaining your cooking method.

    garlic cheese fries

Curry, cheese, coleslaw and garlic on the side. No meal will ever compare.

In the chipper I used to go to in college they did a Slurry Box, mainly ordered by bouncers at 1-4am. Chips with curry sauce, coleslaw, stuffing, garlic mayo and melted cheese. YUM. After 15 drinks of course.

And are essentially the same muck as the 25c own brand equivalent.

I did love them till I came to Ireland and they went from 20p in home and bargain to 1.10 a pack :(

    1. Boil the kettle.
    2. Put the noodles in a bowl and break 'em up a bit.
    3. Pour the boiling water over the noodles.
    4. Give it a stir.
    5. Pop it in the microwave.
    6. Add the flavoring.
    7. Stir again.
    8. Eat.
    9. Die.

Why don't you bring in foods that don't need microwaving, pre made salads/lunches with protein, some carbs, etc? Or bring leftovers from curry or chili etc and heat them up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 463 ✭✭Christ the Redeemer

I break them up in a bowl, pour boiling water to just level with the noodles, micro for 2 minutes, mix in the flavour.

    never fails.

Til you realise that tiny portion you're still hungry afterwards contains almost a fifth of your daily calorie allowance and a whopping 70% of your salt RDA.

Go with the eggs next time, seriously.
