I really cannot stress how how happy it makes me to see Bryan get a shot at the title as its held by the top guy in the industry at the second biggest show of the year.

I know they have the bigger main event of Punk vs Brock so can do a "non-safe" title match but even still, it's proof that if you stick with it during the dodgy stories and constant jobbing, and work hard to develop a gimmick the crowd love, mdespite your size, you can get massive rewards.

I'll be gutted if the Ziggler/Big E match does end up wasted as a tag team match. **** the divas (I wish) and just make it a singles match. Would rather see Henry vs Ambrose as a US titles singles match also.

I wouldnt be surprised if it is just a singles match but AJ will def be at ringside so it wouldnt be a shock if Kaitlyn also made an appearance to attack AJ who is trying to interfere or something similar.

The tag would kill two birds with one stone and allow for both feuds to continue. Kaitlyn vs AJ has no reason to continue as singles matches, but Kaitlyn being on the winning team would be enough to get her another title shot.

It's also a bit soon to be throwing out Ziggler vs Big E. Which by the way, is ass backwards. Big E should be the face and Ziggler the heel.

Big Show is coming back on Raw, whats the bet he teams up with Henry or Kane to produce a treacle slow team to face the Shield or Wyatts.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

Big E can dominate matches as a heel and Ziggler can sell so well the face position works for him in this feud.

Big E will be a face one day though.

Nah, it must be a month since Big Show v Del Rio so we can see that again now.

Mixed tag matches are generally not the most gripping events, so I'd be fairly disappointed if that is what we're getting for Summerslam. Especially since Ziggler is easily entertaining enough to carry that singles match as an upper midcarder even at a PPV as big as Summerslam. The addition of AJ and Kaitlyn probably would push this down the bill a bit, and anyway what does Kaitlyn actually add to proceedings? The AJ/Kaitlyn thing has been done, and done again, and should be over now.

Kaitlyn being there extends both feuds. Without her, the Diva's title is either left off the card, or Kaitlyn is handed another title match despite tapping out twice in a row.

Dolph needs a win, he's on a bit of a losing streak now PPV wise but a singles victory kills the feud before it even starts. Add in Kaitlyn and Dolph can get his much needed win without killing the feud in the first meeting. Big E needs to win the first singles match to make it worthwhile. If it happens at Summerslam, that means Ziggler hasn't won on PPV since he beat Kofi at Elimination Chamber. Six months ago.

No Divas match sounds perfect, Kaitlyn/AJ is not a feud that needs to be extended, then they can start something new for AJ for Night of Champions where it'll definitely be defended. Ziggler vs Dolph could go any imo. Anything they can do to keep the Ziggy/Biggy feud fresh after winning a tag match, they can do with Ziggler winning, or alternatively losing and keeping up the losing run. Would prefer to see Ziggler win here, with Night of Champions being the next PPV (I think?) a Ziggler vs Big E rematch won't get half the airtime it should anyway. Would prefer to see Ziggler put away Big E at Summerslam and then go back after Del Rio and finally get a proper title run that he has deserved for a long time, but that is just me speaking as a Ziggy fanboy.

Ziggler's title reign did himself more harm than good. He was awful until he lost it. He needs a lot of work before he is ready for another title reign.

Diva's title is pretty much always defended, or at least involved in some way. Personally, I'd rather the mixed tag over AJ vs one of the Bella's. It also frees up a spot for another match on the card.

No need for Ziggler vs Big E this early, especially since most of the issues are between Ziggler and AJ, not Ziggler and Big E. Big E is just doing what he is told. The tag match makes sense in that regard.

Zigglers title reign was interrupted by the concussion and never really got going. If they do insist on having a Divas match, that is fine, gives a chance to go make popcorn or whatever, but it shouldn't be interrupting a match involving someone who should be fighting matches up the top of the card.

For me, the Ziggler Big E thing doesnt need to last any longer than the 1 PPV. It will make for an exciting match, that ill look forward to, but really this match is only necessary to tie up Dolphs loose ends in completing the face turn. If it wasn't against Dolph I don't think anyone would be too interested in who Big E is up against (don't think he's even had a PPV match since Wrestlemania and hasn't been sorely missed) so for me the best thing this can do is send Langston onto a career of his own, and Ziggler onto better things.

Bryan had to get rid of Kane before he could get the push he deserved and I think the same will probably apply to Ziggler. The longer one stays involved in the mid-card feuds, the harder it becomes to find something fresh for when the push finally arrives.

As of Monday’s RAW, names were still being thrown around for who will challenge World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio at SummerSlam. One name mentioned was Rob Van Dam.
Vince McMahon is a big fan of RVD, and always has been. Both Van Dam and Chris Jericho were praised backstage after their match on RAW.

Would prefer to see Kane side with the Wyatts before Summerslam unless he is going into singles action against Bray Wyatt, because the inevitability of him turning on his partner would make the match as interesting to watch as a Cena vs *insert monster here* egowank.

They seems to be building to a Del Rio/Christian/RVD match at SummerSlam, wouldn't be surprised to see Sheamus added to the mix as well, if it does end up being a multi-man match for the World Heavyweight Championship, I firmly expect RVD to hit the 5 star on Christian only to have Del Rio push him out of the ring and steal the pin.

    WWE Heel booking 101.

I've seen you bitching a bit about Cena and specifically his "ego" lately. What are you basing this on? You make him sound like the lovechild of Hogam and Hunter. Anything I've read about the guy indicates that he's nothing like that. You could argue that he's stale and overpushed, but egotistical? Nat, Im not having that.

If WWE book any musical performers for this year's SUMMERSLAM, i hope it's something better than the f**king sh*t we got at WRESTLEMANIA 29, though Living Colour were the only awesome exception at WRESTLEMANIA 29

That'll be my tea & cigarette break for SUMMERSLAM sorted then, if i remember correctly, i think Metallica were rumoured to perform at last year's SUMMERSLAM

Pretty sure that was the first time I've used the words Cena and ego together (although I stand to be corrected) but don't let that get in the way of your attempts to form a logical argument.

So, based on Raw, and on the previews on WWE's website, it seems like we can add...

    Raw Spoiler
    Inferno Match
    Kane vs Bray Wyatt

....to the card. They've not called the match that, but they seem to be doing everything just short.

Traditionally, haven't they had to increase the space between the ring and crowd for shows with that match? Or maybe they'll do it in a pre-tape backstage as a more "movie-esque" type of match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 90,203 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

The Miz came out for Miz TV and introduced his guests, Big E Langston and AJ
Lee. Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn cut them off. The Miz made a mixed tag team match
official for SummerSlam - he's allowed to do that, apparently, because he's the
SummerSlam host. Ziggler hit the Zig Zag on Langston, and Kaitlyn left AJ lying
    with a spear.

    Ring of Fire gimmick explained

On tonight's Smackdown show, they explained the Ring of Fire match rules for the Kane vs. Bray Wyatt match at SummerSlam on 8/18 in Los Angeles.

As expected, the match is the same as the Inferno match that WWE has done before and the Ring Surrounded by Fire match that debuted in Puerto Rico.

The idea is the ring is surrounded by fire, which would keep the other members of the Wyatt Family from interfering.

Wonder if this a way to write off Kane for a bit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,820 ✭✭✭grames_bond

are they just calling it "ring of fire" so as to make it a pin fall match too - or will it be exactly like an inferno match - where you have to "set your opponent on fire" - the later isn't very PG!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

The match ends with a pinfall whereas the Inferno match is first to get set alite. Kane is doing the follow up to See no Evil so I expect a injury storyline set up soon. Hope when he returns we won't have to hear the commentator ask if he sees any evil in his opponent.

    Bit of fantasy booking:

Brock to either destroy Punk or Punk to get a win against the run of play followed by Brock trying to destroy him, only for Rock to come out and make the save, setting up Mania.

Bryan to beat Cena, Orton to cash in and then Bryan to reverse RKO into La Belle lock and beat him too.

    Survivor Series - tag between Punk/Rock v Orton/Brock

    Mania - Brock v Rock
    Cena v Taker
    Bryan v Punk for title.

None of this will happen but I enjoyed thinking about it while out for a long walk today!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

I know it's fantasy booking but Rock will never risk his movie career against Lesnar. Lesnar is rough and Rock got injured against Cena, one of the least dangerous guys he could ever face. Lesnar would cripple him.

    Likewise with Undertaker.

I think we'll be getting the third match in the Punk/Lesnar series for Wrestlemania. Whoever gets the win here, takes a loss at the Rumble.

This actually could happen however Byran does not need the title at the present moment in time he could easily have a fued with orton and cena where orton is the champ and a few months down the line switch the title to byran for the fued with cm punk leading into the wrestlemania season.
