to the lad in ydays thread backing dan at 40/1.....hes got a virus, so no chance.

thomas de gendt at 40/1 is a much better bet. although i think purito at favourite is on the ball here.

saxo to implement another tactical masterplan where they send 4 up the road for contador & kreuziger, but they end up 20 mins ahead of the peleton after the second HC so they tt home for the win for tossato

EDIT: i think sagan at 400/1 is very generous. could see him being with the peloton at the intermediate sprint if gc guys are knackered, and if a breakaway goes then then he shouldnt have any problems with the rest of the bumps

Has anyone ever won all three jersey classifications?

Seeing Froome at the top of GC and Mountains and top 10 in the Sprint made me wonder...

Merckx of course, in his first TdF, and he would have won the white jersey too if it was going at the time.

Eddy Merckx won Yellow, Points, Mountains, Combination (which ain't around any more), and the Team classifications with Faema in '69 -there was no young rider classification then, so we have to discount that.

What did you beat him up with, your pump ? :pac:

Today's stage has potential for fireworks or an absolute borefest, it really depends on the 'recoveries' after yesterday and the 'calculations' !

The shame was too much for him (particularly when it was immortalised in mug form by Caroline_ie (that I still drink tay from to this day)

dastardly was going start it myself before bed last night but was sure you would look after it.

here is an extract of my picks from my blog today:

Will Andy Schleck try something? He showed some form in the time trial but the finish downhill to Le Grand Bornand isn’t his strong point. Saxo Bank will race this from the gun but how will the likes of Belkin and Movistar react? Teams are now not just worried about how to get first place but how they could grab 2nd or 3rd. Quintana has been smart so far in realising how valuable a 2nd is rather than nothing at all and has ridden as such. Down the order there are a huge number of climbers who will want to risk their chance here for stage success.

Euskatel who launched just some minor attacks today should take more risks here to try grab a much needed stage winDe Gendt is also likely to have a go as his team struggles to fund its future. Serpa is starting to show some form and with Lampre having no goals he is one to watch. For the 3rd day there is a prediction of rain, but for a 3rd day will it be wrong; only a few drops may land. Dan Martin had a very bad day at the office suffering early doors. There is no doubt in my mind he eased off and is hunting himself a second stage now.
11141%7C00000708e%7C1e2a_pn12st7-de-gendt-wins.jpg?resize=312%2C275De Gendt needs to attack for his team

    Stage Winner:
    .15pts De Gendt 66/1 skybet
    .15pts Serpa 66/1 various
    .1pt Dan Martin 40/1 various

Is Froome at 16/1 enticing? Fulgsang any chance 80/1?

Anyone know the total climbing? That looks a brutal day after yesterday. At least 4,500m based on the highs & lows.

Breakaway chance for anyone who didn't bury themselves on the Alpe.

Eurosport player is only £3 pm. Good value to watch the whole tour on a quality stream.

Marmotte flashbacks for me there and I bet I'm not alone in that - slightly frantic dash out of Bourg before hitting that damn at the base of the Glandon. Good times.

"So, forget about today, @ryder_hesjedal has been referring to tomorrow's stage 19 as "THE REDONKATHON" since Corsica. That means very hard."

    -tweeted by Millar yesterday.

This is a similarly relentless climb fest to stage 9 so garmin might ride to the same script, though not for Dan I guess.

Riblon will be the strangest winner of the polka dot jersey since charteau a few years back. Some price he must of been. Any idea if Chavanel in break ? a tour is incomplete without a win for him..

Hands free wheelie! Even Brailsford might be impressed with that, after he'd stopped tutting about it being wreckless.

Pineau, Cavendish and Kwiatkowski apparently broke out of GC group on Glandon descent. Shame we never get to see the sprinters descending prowess on TV.

I think Sagan's biggest threat to winning the green jersey is an unfortunate wheely related accident!

Did you see him turn his handlebars and casually slap them back while wheelying 2 days ago - it's escalating. I hope he's been training!

"Hard to believe, but Mark Cavendish has jumped from the Froome group, together with teammates Kwiatkowski and Pineau. They have about a minute on teh group. No doubt they just want to build up a buffer before going up the Madelaine, so that Cavendish doesn't lose too much time in the end."

Smart idea, he's a good descender so why not give himself a bit more time & less red-zone effort on next climb.

Could also be for Kwiatkowski, he's 9th overall.

Dan Martin in main peloton halfway up the second HC climb so hopefully he is feeling somewhat better.
