It'll be interesting to see who the person is that he "put his trust in" because at that level in the US agents, doctors and coaches cover many many top athletes.

I honestly thought that he would be the last person who would do that as he comes across as an honest, good guy...

Sad this considering he was in project believe

At least three Jamaicans including two Olympic gold medallist have tested positive according to sources. This follows Tyson Gay's positive

Is Veronica Campbell Brown already included in that I wonder?

She was also Gay's training partner.

Disappointed and glad at the same time, if that's possible.

No she is not she left the group 4 years ago. Trains at same facilities but as far as is reported has been bouncing around coaches since

Very sad to hear. Have always been a massive fan of him and prayed he'd beat Bolt in the Olympics...very interesting time for sprinting though...I thought those days were behind the sport but this could uproot everything...at least Gay was probably clean when he had his best moments...

He came forth in the Olympic final last year. So how does he get to the gold medal level at age 30?

With the second fastest time in history, anything is possible...this just ruined it...I always felt/thought he was an honest athlete who did absolutely everything to make himself better...

When I posted about Gay running a 9.78 secs last week it was on my mind to question this sudden return to form. Not allowed on the forum. For a guy who was injured a fair bit, sliding and losing to Gatlin and Blake, to sudenly be posting sub 9.8s.

I think he is still honest about it, no bull**** sabotage story (yet) like my tootpaste was spiked, my steak was tainted etc. It seems he was given a supplement in good faith by one of his team and it busted him.

I remember watching a docu about Maurice Greene back in the day and he was about to name all the supplements when his manager/agent cut him off and made up some excuse about copyright.

But in the cold light of day the 100m is the dirtiest race of all, worse than any TdF or anything else. Even with Dasaolu's new time it is being compared as the second fastest time by a Brit even though the fastest time was posted by a cheat over 20 years ago.

The last paragraph of this article says it all unfortunately:

    http://www.chrisharrisonwriting.com/journalism/_3/
"I watch sport, but I watch it like it's a show," he says. "I watch the Olympic Games but I don't bother to remember the names of the athletes anymore. It's like theatre - but I prefer the theatre because the relationship between actor and spectator is clear. In sport's theatre, both are still pretending it's real."

Mod: Before anyone attempts to post the Jamaican names which are currently being reported remember charter rules regarding supplying a link otherwise it is just speculation

All I know is this. I know somebody, typical pillar of the community, then one day in broad daylight, I was driving along and saw them, on a quiet local road, with car boot open, unloading sacks of rubbish along the Side of the road.

The simple reality is we don't know what our neighbours are at, never mind complete strangers.

As far as I'm concerned the Jamaican's are always going to be heavily suspected. Until they are in line with many other countries then that will be the case.

It's a shame really. These guys are special athletes. Super human sprinters. Sometimes there are genuine innocent cases where an athlete is let down by someone. Also, some sybstances and drugs are different than others. But, it's up to the athlete to know what is going into his/her body. Trust or not!

    can't believe Gay tested positive
he would have been the last sprinter i would have expected to test positive

This kind of thing really annoys me. By doping, these athletes are tarnishing the sport irreparably - considering someone as clean as Gay has been found out, this casts a shadow of doubt over the truly exceptional athletes that work so hard to achieve their results.

They don't care about the sport. By doping, these athlete's are making 100's of thousands (millions in some cases) by being able to compete at the highest level. There's no point in being blinkered, top-class athletics is as pharma-enhanced as cycling, swimming, or any other individual sport where money is a reward. (That's not speculation, as an ever-increasing number of doping cases testify). Maybe on a lesser stage competition for its own reward is still king, but you can decide for yourself where the shadow lies on who is "truely exceptional". Far too many erstwhile clean heroes over the years have taken the pharma route (Carl Lewis, Saïd Aouita, Merlene Ottey,...).

Maybe the (technical) jump events are still clean, but as for explosive or endurance events... just look at the evidence.

The jump events are very explosive. As for Lewis, what "PED" did he test positive for?

Every man who has ran sub 9:80 for 100m have failed drug tests apart from Usain Bolt and Maurice Greene!!

All we need now is for Gatlin to win in Moscow, which is quite possible, for the sport to lose even more credibility
