ACL surgery rehab and leg extensions

I'd like to preface this by stating that I'm not looking for medical advice, I'm already seeing a physio and my surgeon regularly. I'm just looking for peoples opinions and experiences

I had Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction approx 5 months ago (hamstring graft) and as part of my rehab my physio is recommending that I, amongst other exercises, use the leg extension machine.(3x10)

Now, there are a plethora of articles on the net stating that leg extensions are bad for a healthy knee and a no-no for anyone with ACL related injuries, so I'm hesitant to do this exercise.
I was wondering if anyone here who had this surgery used the leg extension machine as part of the rehab and if so were there any known negative effects?

Using leg extensions for knee rehabbing is seen as a bit outdated now and would only be used in cases of bad patellar tracking now a days. At five months post surgery you should be free to return to normal leg training with out ill effect. I'd get a second opinion from a different physio if I was you.

I had the exact same op (hamstring graft). I found squatting was the best exercise for my knee. Started with bw and worked from there. I was given leg extension as part of my rehab too with a load of other exercises. I just did them with light weights and focused on my ROM.

Is the physio perhaps using this to strengthen you to test you on a biodex machine etc.?

Not sure to be honest, I have had a biodex test previously and I guess I will again in the future
