Help going low carb

    Guys & Girls,

Looking for a little advice here on going low carb. I personally could lose about 9lbs. 12 would make me very happy, any more up to 20 would make me ecstatic. I'm going on Holiday in two months & would love to drop the weight & tone up.

I have manboobs & a gut, other than that, I'm in good shape for a middle aged guy (44) - physically fit, haven't smoked in over ten years & rarely get out of breath. I walk the dog almost every day between 2 & 6k depending on the route we take & I'm also running after two kids all day

I try to watch what I eat, but will admit to grazing. There'd be a lot of Pasta, rice & significant baked products in our diet & I'm at a loss of what to replace them with. When I say a lot, I mean probably pasta two days a week, rice two days a week, rest of the week would be a mixture of stuff.

I eat most Veg, a lot of fruit, red meat in moderation, chicken & a little fish.

I've seen others going on low carb & the results have been amazing, but I seriously don't know what to replace the carbs I do consume with.

    Any help ?

To put it bluntly: vegetables :)

As a nation we've become very preoccupied with making bread/ pasta/ rice the "carrier" of our meats, but if you replace a sandwich with a salad, pasta with roast veg, rice with stir fried veg then that's as complicated as it needs to get tbh :)

Good on ya for making the decision OP but personally, and from my own experience, I wouldn't bother cutting carbs. I know that's not the answer you came here for, sorry.

If the goal is fat loss, I've found it's much easier and far more sustainable to just cut your overall calorie intake. I've lost roughly the same amount of weight as you mentioned while eating around 180g of carbs per day.
