This looks a great deal on Ibood
    http://www.ibood.com/ie/en/

42" Panasonic Viera set with 100hz processing and Smart functionality,it has built in wifi .
Its a mid end set and selling for 699 euro at Currys and Powercity so its a third cheaper at Ibood.

    Review here
    http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/panasonic-tx-l42e6b-201303102720.htm?page=Performance
In case we haven’t made it clear enough in the preceding review text, the Panasonic TX-L42E6B is hands down the best LCD-based display we’ve seen from the company thus far

That is a great price. I bought the 32" version for close to that a few weeks ago.

BTW, why is everybody mad for Saorview? :D

So jealous of you Supercell, went to buy one but "Due to the number of failed attempts we are unable to register your card at the moment"!?. Total ballsack! Can't even remember when why how who these number of attempts occurred but that's banks for you :(

How often if ever do iBood repeat deals?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,505 ✭✭✭skinny90

Great price note that it is 50hz refresh rate. The 100hz bls processes mumbo jumbo as quoted above is aloda bull manufacturers are putting on their sets to shift stock

Rarely, if ever. Sales tend to be clearance of old stock- some liquidators, particularly in the Netherlands and Belgium, seem to see iBood as a mechanism for clearing stock in hand. Sometimes the deals are appallingly crap- other times- really, very good value. With low value items- the 12.50 minimum shipping often negates any discount (unless you go crazy and buy 3 or 4 of the item in question).

Particular types of items repeat- aka- there may be another 40-50" TV within a few weeks- however, its unlikely to be this make and model.

Another thing to keep in mind- it would appear that often goods may be factory remanufactured- as opposed to 'new', while there shouldn't be any difference from a functional perspective- sometimes its an open box- it could remanufactured, it could be a display model- it could be the picker in the warehouse having a gawk at the thing- you just don't know.

It states the condition for the tv as "new" though.
Looking at Skinflint that model is on sale for roughly the same price with numerous retailers in Poland so I'd expect it to be new.
I will email them and see if it is indeed new,if it is remanufactured or a display model i will be cancelling the order asap.

Its been around for years- if you have a problem, they will honour warranties etc (they can be a bit slow- but they get there, eventually). If you ever need their phone number its a bit hard to find (its 01-4773908 btw)

Sit back and wait for your TV.

It's a great TV (I have the 32"). The web apps and interface are actually pretty good too, and not something just slapped on to boost the specs. Android app is decent, very easy to set up and 'swipe to share' photos and video straight from your phone/tablet.

I haven't watched any Blu Ray video yet but with PS3 gaming, WD TV media player, the built-in player (doesn't read all files) and SKY HD - no complaints. Can't fault it.

It will play some files, but not all. It can pick up files from your shared folders on the network, or through the USB port. YouTube and Vimeo too. Easy to set up.

I'm well excited about receiving this. I've never ordered off ibood before. Expected arrival time is next Wednesday.

Can anyone confirm what ibood is like for delivery?

    What company do they use?

Is there a way I can track my order?

Ordered to my house and ideally don't want to have to wait for it all day

Recieved an email today saying order had been shippied. They also said this "Your order is delivered by TNT because the shipment fits in a normal mailbox. Unfortunately, this means that it is not possible to track your shipment using track & trace.
Your order will be delivered within 1 to 3 days. Together with the order you'll also receive an invoice. We advise you to keep this invoice safe"

Im confused, how can a tv fit in a mailbox. Am i meant to sit at home the next 3 days waiting for a delivery?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 32,286 Mod ✭✭✭✭The_Conductor

No- its a generic e-mail they've sent. It 100% definitely is possible to track and trace the package- you'll have to get the information from them though. I'd also guess that unfortunately DPD are probably the delivery company.......

I've messaged ibood (via their contact form) 2 hours ago and asked for the delivery details but no response yet.

Anyone have any more information in relation to the delivery?

I emailed them yesterday, but no response

If you go into My Orders on ibood then click on the tv you should get a tracking number and link then just enter Ireland as the destination country and bob's your uncle.

Thanks very much Liam i hadn't noticed that before. I see my order is still in the Netherlands. The address is somewhat mangled too but the info is there - the sooner we have proper postcodes the better IMHO.

Heres a page showing the apps on the TV you might find interesting while waiting on delivery. There's even a Chinese TV one for my wife to enjoy! - http://panasonic.net/avc/viera/global/connect_apps/area/32

Can someone please update this thread when they receive their delivery?

I'm going to leave work then and work from home.

Hopefully (fingers crossed) they haven't attempted to deliver by then.
