Seriously impressive and makes me wish I could do something half as creative. Those folks put so much effort into really amazing costumes that they wear for like a couple of days a year, and it's just something else entirely.

No clue what some of them are meant to be, but amazing! :D

At Acen there's this old bloke who always dresses up as a schoolgirl from Sailor Moon.

Apart from Iron Man, Spiderman, and R2D2 I don't have a clue who any of them are supposed to be. Brilliant outfits though! Some serious fans (of something) there!

Conventions definitely bring out some really dedicated cosplayers but even Halloween in Ireland, or at least cork, has some great builds.

    People love building costumes

that one in the ginger wig

in particular. fairly certain it's not just the outfits I mean she'd even look good in a pedobear suit right :o orrr is it just that they're Japanese..

ohhh dear :o Fetishes eh. That iron man makes Robert Downey appear 6" at least

of the ones I recognise, there's some Borderlands characters, the X Men, some Attack on Titan characters, Princess Peach, Tifa Lockheart, Tyrael from the Diablo games, a Warhammer space marine, Deadpool, some Naruto characters... that's about it maybe :p

Some serious talent goes into those, you'd see movie quality costumes at things like ComicCon and WonderCon.

Me and herself are watching through Elfen Lied at the moment, and although I had seen the first few episodes already ages ago, it still shocks me. that is one very, very dark show, and it is very disturbing.

I've thought about going to Eirtakon later this year, but I know zero people IRL who'd ever go to something like it. I don't want to go alone... :(

Go! You'll have a great time even if you do go alone, and you can always arrange to meet people you know from boards or something

hell, I'll be in London next week and I've got loads of time to kill because herself is gonna be in hospital, and I'm probably going to be going to the London Anime Con alone. nothing wrong with it, and you shouldn't miss out on doing something you love

There's also Comic Con on in August. Maybe your friends would be a interested in that?

it sounds odd, but I get scared really easily so I tend to avoid horror games because I just end up getting scared and not playing them :o the Metro games freaked the ever living crap out of me. they're amazing but I've not played them much because they freaked me out so I couldn't go on. don't laugh

In Ireland, hen party devil horns/bunny ears, feather boa and flashing xmas lights counts as 'dressing up'.

not true, going to anime cons in Ireland, you still get some amazing costumes ;) just looking at some of the pics friends have posted from Arcade Con, or some of the costumes when we were at Akumakon this year. it's still pretty awesome

I suppose you either get this kinda thing or you don't. I don't, but figure fair play if people get some pleasure from it.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

is it bad I knew exactly who you were on about? he's been at it for years

I think it's hilarious, and kinda highlights some of the awful costumes female characters often wear. there was also a guy who used to dress up as Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop a lot

I'm slightly disappointed buying some airsoft gear and copying something is considered creativity now.

I know some of them are impressive and somewhat creative like the iron man and transformers guys but for the most part it's just copying something using basic sewing/gluing skills.

AFAIK, he's done it since the first Acen he went to. Possibly even since Acen itself started.

Not sure if I've seen him at it though.

What was Acen like? I'd love to go to some of the big cons overseas, London Anime Con will be the first one if I have the time for it. I might be looking at Eirtakon this year too, but I don't know

Thought I accidently hit the Anime & Manga forum :D

I love cosplay, it's really awesome. Brings out the creative side of many people who normally wouldn't venture out in public dressed as they are. I done cosplay for a few years at Nom-con and Eirtakon. Managed to hook up with pretty much every other character from the show, some of them had put their heart into their costumes. Group photos were awesome xD

Can't say I 'get' it either (Wouldn't have any interest in doing it myself), but I definitely appreciate some of the work that goes into the costumes, some are really impressive.

The fact there tends to be some good looking women included is a bonus :pac:

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test
