bridge camera or dslr

hi, im looking to uprade my current camera point and shoot. it's a samsung pl150. the camera will be mainly used for fast movement such as motorsport. are bridge cameras any use? or would i be better off with a dslr? any recommendations for a beginner? thanks

I would always suggest going full SLR!

You won't look back once you do!

I would suggest going for a slr, the shutter lag on those bridge camera is too much that you might just miss the shot you're after

I'd suggest going for the EOS M now that they've sorted out the auto-focus

No specific recommendations but motorsport is a very specialised form of photography. You ideally need camera with high FPS (Frames per second) and decent performance at high ISO's and thats without thinking about lenses which need to be fast.

I wouldn't rush into this if I were you - do some research before picking one.

Sorry I didn't read the OP properly, If it's motorsport you're looking at I'd get a M4/3 as the auto-focus on the EPL5,GF series is lightening fast.

I've got one myself and their performance at high ISO isn't the best.
