VIVITAR for camcorders?

Anybody got any knowledge on what VIVITAR are like for cameras and camcorders? My mam got a free camera a good few years ago and it was brutal but we are looking now at camcorders and they seem to be decent enough. Can anyone spread some knowledge on them? Thank you.
